Probably not much I would imagine. If the difference between the map in the ECU's requested boost, and the actual boost is too big a gap you'll get limp mode I believe I read on here.......
 
you can change the pre load on the standard actuator, dont think this will do much for the performance
tho. change for the forge one. this does really make a difference in power
 
No dont need to be mapped just holds the boost longer so give a stronger pull through the gears. mine made about 10 bhp through out the rev range, holds at a good 24 psi now to the red line.

But if the car has an overboost mode then this must have been mapped out before you fitted the actuator?

depends on the spring you put in it...
too much different and deviation code + limp mode will ensue surely

I think this is the 1 for the leon cupra.

mine was a bit of a pain to fit, pretty much took the turbo off and fitted my actuator but really worth the hassle

Interesting, I think this depends on your level of tuning on your car...

I was going to do this on my LCR, the car was at Forge for the FMIC fitting at the time. In the end Richard Washbrook (at Forge at the time) suggested I didn't get it done.

He said that unless I was going beyond stage 2 it wouldn't be worth it.

Then again CupraMVR is showing 350lbsft of torque so that's either a hybrid turbo? or just RR lottery figures?

Robdon was one of the first to get this done, but then again his car was beyond stage 2.......or it may be something better suited to LC than LCR :shrug:

Na his car is a KO4 OEM turbo'd LCR.
He works at Awesome GTI so it's a heavily tweeked map
 
The reason this mod works is because the stock spring @ 6psi only allows aprox 17 psi at red line due to wastegate blowing open when exceeding 6psi spring pressure. Upgrading to a Forge unit with a 10 psi allows more boost to be generated.
But a mbc may be nesscessary to prevent the turbo boosting past 1.54 bar in the mid revs range since the duty cycle of the n75 remains the same. A custom map would be good with this mod.
 
the sensible will ask why the feck do you think its a good thing to have to hold the wastegate puk closed because the manifold pressure is so high it want to blow it open!!!!

heat choke will be massive

want power, get the thing to FLOW so you dont need to bottle up the damned boost so high...

Extrude Hone your manifolds to get more flow out of them, and clip the turbines for more outright flow... and you will make more power, and not need to up pressures on things like wastegates to stop them from being blown open.

Is there anywhere in the UK that does one-off/small batch extrude honing? When I was looking round I couldn't convince them to do mine...

well actually there is and I am talking with them now. ;)

Meeting on Friday with them to take a sample away and work out costs and spec for tooling on them etc

Cool. The people I spoke to (probably the same people you're talking to as I think they're the only ones!) were very, very helpful and happy to talk, but they just couldn't gear themselves up to do private jobs.
