I have changed to a custom code stage 2, ive got no complaints it seems good, alot better than it was before. pulls hard all the way to the redline without loosing too much boost pressure. feels smooth to drive, not jerky or anything at least i know its good software from people who know what they are on about.

keep away from anywhere you dont trust or offer you a cheap map promising amazing figures, go for somewhere that has been tryed and tested and well known. nothing but a bunch of cowboys(no names to be mentioned) is where i had the last map done which wasnt up to much according to somebody who checked it out. didnt pull good at all after 5krpm and may aswell changed gear earlier to get the boost back again. just felt fast at the start low down revs because the boost was maxed out to give a good kick. figures were made up on the rolling road aswell.

Seems a lot of people go on figures rather than driveability to decide what remap to get,i personally would choose drivability over figures as this is what makes you want to drive the car.

As mentioned there are a number of people out there that can offer software for your car - AMD,Awesome,P-Torque,Jabba,RS Tuning,Revo to name a few, they all offer the same kind of increase from stock but at the same time they all drive differently and produce power at different points.

From all the various 1.8T's i have driven with different software on i can honestly say that the Custom-Code is one of the smoothest maps available - 1 example was of a LCR mapped on Wednesday, had software on from an unknown supplier and was really aggressive in the low RPM's and tailed off fairly quickly towards the high RPM,s which meant his friend in a stock LCR could stay with him at higher speeds but struggled when setting off, with the Custom-Code on there he has reported that it feels just as quick at low RPM's but considerably quicker at high RPM's due to the smooth linear power delivery.

Hope this helps with making a decision as to what software to look at and also how you want the car to drive

I'll second everything mentioned about CC maps.

My Stg2 is as smooth as silk all the way through the power range!!

How much roughly for a stage 1, on my Leon Cupra AUQ (i think)?
Thanks.

Ok, I have never had experience of a CC map, only AMD. People say that CC is much more driveable than the others however, I can't say that AMD is not. You have the ability to drive normally if you wish but as soon as you plant your foot, you get a huge kick in the back, IMO that's what having a turbo car is all about, for smooth increasing Revs I would prefer an N/A car. To me, the AMD map is driveable as it's virtually a standard car when wanting to potter around town and cruise although you can feel the extra power under your foot, it feels alot more willing 'to go'.

ok, kinda off the topic here but anyway. dont want warranty issues so looking for a switchable map so i can go back to standard for the dealer.
so, will this actually be the factory map, or just their equivilant? cause if its just an equivilant value sort of thing then surely the dealer can still spot it anyway?

As far as I know, you can switch most maps back to standard with VAG-COM but if you want it to be done using a switch, you'll need REVO.

a place in N.Ireland does switchable remaps, their website only mentions it on vag tdi's so far, but im sure they can do it on a tfsi if they can do it on a tdi. just want to make sure it'll be the original standard map i'll be swtichin back to, otherwise there little point in shellin out the extra cash for a switch if it aint gonna fool the dealer

I've had experience of both Revo and CC on a TDi, CC was definately the best, a lot smoother and delivered power all the way to the redline.

Problem with asking people about remaps is a lot will be biased toward their own IMO.

I'm torn between CC and APR for the LCR... Suppose it depends what you want for it..

After researching for months and months, I can honestly say that it does you no good. There is no definitive answer to who will give you the best map as each car adapts differently. The only thing that I can say stands out is that everyone says CC is "SMOOTH", this appears to be regardless of which car it's on. As for the rest of them, maybe they are about the same. I opted out of CC as like i say above, I didn't want my turbo car to feel like an N/A, this was the reason for choosing an LCR over a CTR in the 1st place. However, I am pleased with AMD, it gives the turbo kick that I wanted and provides power until redline, for me, best of both worlds but as I say, that's just how mine has taken to it, others may be different on the same map.

I'm booked in at AMD because i like the way they check your car over before and after the map, rather than just putting it in and sending you on your way. Totally agree with jamjay, the kick is what turbo's are all about! Bring on the weekend :)

Hi

For the Custom-Code Phase 1 you are looking at £305.90 inc VAT

This includes a pre map diagnostic check and test drive of the vehicle to ensure there are no issues, the software is then installed (if there are no issues) a post remap test drive will then be done to ensure the vehicle is returning the figures being requested and a final diagnostic check to be on the safe side.

If you're going to Essex, they'll stick it on the rolling road for you too :). The total (Vag-Com, Dyno & Map) came in under £400 for an LCR.

Thanks for the info, what are the possible gains?
