Hello guys and girls, i've been looking at getting a new headunit for a while now, not sure what i want to go for though, the new unit has to be iPod compatible, as i rarely use CD's these days. Also obviously have the fm/am radio. I've been toying with the idea of a double din pioneer or alpine just because of the quality of the units and the screen is appealing however i don't hang out much in the car or have kids to entertain with DVD's (i'm only 18 ;)) so i don't know whether i could justify the extra cost. I would want to control the iPod from the HU as i currently have the cheapo cable plugged into the CD Changer slot on the original Alana unit. I have looked at motorised screens in single din units, what are people's opinions on these, tempermental etc?

As the car doesn't have parking sensors i know with some units you can even add a reversing camera, can anyone shed some light on how these work i/e moment you flick into reverse does the screen change or do you have to faff about etc.

Any info/opinions would be great as i'm an ICE Newbie, thanks alot in advance.

Motorised screen have a flexible ribbon which in time will breakdown. IMO stay away from these as they eventually need repairing. Rear view cameras can be wired to come on when put into reverse or however you like. Just need a 12v feed.

UPDATE - Still Hunting. Suggest some Units.

Sorry to ressurect (spelling..?) an old thread but the search for a double din did stop for a while, however with my birthday in a month the search is back on. I've been searching all night at differnet touchscreen DD but im still undecided.

I want something:
  • iPod compatible
  • CD/Tuner
  • Bluetooth
  • Touchscreen
  • Pre-Outs? For a sub/amp in the future
  • An AV in for a rearview camera, as i reverse in the pitch black at 2/3 in the morning getting home from work.

A big ask i know. I was hoping for something around the 300 mark, hopefully there are some units out there capable of fulfilling my wishes hehe.
Not sure if brands matter too much as long as its not an e-bay special

Thanks
