why u changing ur aerial? Because your reception is bad? Or because you want a shorter aerial? What did u tell Kings?

They'd suggest a new base if u think ur reception is bad, purely as its the base thats probably faulty...

The end bit was missing one morning , I went to kings and they said no probs new mast £3 went to pick it up and couldnt get the old one of so they said I needed a base too , ordered one then waited a week (they forgot to ring) and when I picked it up he said fitting was £90 + vat , sod that !!! So i've had the base & mast in the boot for a few weeks unsure if I should try taking the roof lining down to replace it myself:shrug:

Ok so got mine today. Got the original one off without too much hassle (cut myself doing it; fnck knows how mind). Anyway, the thread is defo much shorter and I can't get it to meet up with the base thread... no matter how much pressure I put down on it. Any ideas or is it a "never gonna happen"? I guess I could cut the end bit of the rubber, but that'll be tricky to make it look nice.

Ok, so no-one wants to give any advice on that then ^^

So, if I cut the end off the standard ariel (to thus make the aerial smaller and very similar to the Type R I have) and apply a blob of paint to it (like someone did [sorry, can't remeber who]), is the reception worse? I personally would've thought so, but dunno.

Having said all that, I might just try and cut the stubby one I've got so that the thread catches...

TIA

I have a weird thing in front of my aerial. My LCR has sat nav so I presume it's something to do with that?!

Guess this rules out a change....

I cut some of the rubber base of the S2000 aerial off. Did go a bit too far and left a square of the metal inner visible, just needed filing down flush. Fits fine, and no problems with the reception.
