Hi, can anyone tell me exactly where the drain pipe/hose is for the air con in my car? Its a 2004 Leon Cupra TDi - i've looked on here and have checked the places suggested but no joy so far...

The reason I need to know is because of the constant stink my air con gives out. I need to find out if the pipe is blocked and therefore not letting the condensation out, or if there is something more expensive wrong...

I’ve run antibacterial system cleaner through it twice this year and after a while (the most recent time , 3 weeks!) the smell comes back. I’ve left the car running today with the a/c on for 20 mins, and there is no damp patch under the car – which I’d expect after letting it run that long (refrigerant pipes under the bonnet are covered in condensation, so there must be enough moisture in the air to warrant some dripping!)

I’ve looked along the bulk head, under both front arches and as far underneath the car as I can see, but can’t find the pipe for looking! Any help appreciated!

have you tried replacing the pollen filter? this helped on mine, it was totally blocked!

yeah put a new one in a couple of months ago when i last did the cleaner stuff

i'm sure the issue is to do with mositure being held in the system - there is literally no water coming out when the a/c is on, my other half's fiesta pours gallons out of the drain hose. i really need to find where it is on the leon

The pipe is part of the heater box, it's the lowest point under the glovebox. It comes through the bulkhead through a rubber grommet. Sometimes the flap on the grommet gets stuck. To get to it you need to be under the car and reach up the bulkhead on the passenger side for the grommet. It's usually behind a panel of sound proofing.

brilliant, cheers techie! i'll have to get it up in the air at the weekend and take a look

will post back the result!

Didn't realise I posted this so long ago!

Anyway, I've finally got this issue sorted now, I had a look and couldn't see where the drain tube was, so got it booked into an a/c specialist near work - cost me £80 and the guy unblocked the tube, chemical cleaned the pipe and condenser (I think) and also sprayed a bacterial inhibitor in the 'box' too

He ran the a/c to check it was dripping from the tube etc

He said he filled the box/area round the condenser with chemicals to allow the solution to give the whole condenser unit a really good clean

It's been 2 weeks now, and it still smells fresh and the car doesn't steam up all the time too!

I think it was a well spent £80 - and would recommend it to anyone with the same problem :)

thank u for sharing this info, i have the same problem on my 2002 TDI leon...

stinks like stale water, disgusting, and i tried everything like u,

except for this last part ;)

so cleaning is the only option,

u didnt take any pictures maybe to show us where is that drain hose?

I apologize on my english, I am writitng from Croatia, so i'm a bit rusty

Sorry no pictures, I couldn't work out where the drain hose was, hence taking it to a professional
