Air Con Noise

Hi All,

We have a 1.4 SE Ibiza and the car is great BUT!
The air con has started making a noise. Has anyone else had this problem?
Just for info really before we take it back to the dealer.

Hi we have two ibiza both on a 2009 plate and both A/C work fine would that it back if I was you and have it checked out.

Can you tell us more about what noise its making ?

It sounds like a bearing noise. As soon as we press the A/C on (climate control) you can hear it above the engine.
It comes through the air vents.

and it changes with the fan speed ?

No. The fan sped just hides the noise when on LO and the fan is full on.

The compressor on my car is noisy too. You can definately hear when its on (most of the time as I have climate control) I was wondering if it is a fault or just a noisy compressor?

Hi, yes mine is exactly the same. The more load on the compressor- ie on a very hot day the more noticable the noise. Turning off the ac stops the noise instantly.

My previous mkiv Ibiza was even worse, the noise was there from new although it never got any louder in the year I owned it.

To be honest I don't think this can easily be fixed, even changing the compressor is no guarantee. I think the problem is due to the operating noise of the compressor being transmitted into the car via the air con pipes. Possibly due to the way they are routed and also a general lack of noise insulation.

Be interested if anyone does get it fixed though!

The noise was not there until a few days ago.
