air feed

Hi,

I should be picking up my LCR tomorrow and I am going to make a few mods to it for example a piper turbo back exhaust system, bigger intercooler & a custom remap.
I was wondering what the pros and cons are of replacing the standard air box or just replacing the panel filter and smoothing the airbox? Would be great to know what everyone else is using!

A modded airbox will give as good gains as any other induction kit and it will save you a few quid

100mm is the smallest metal pipe I could find. The airbox hole was opened up using a stanley knife and a big file, a dremel would be far easier. With the other mods it seems to work well and sounds pretty cool.

how did you seal it to the inside of the airbox mylo? Or is it just poked in?

theres 1m of 4" tumble dryer ducting from screwfix for about £1.50 would that surfice? how do i remove the plastic casing from being the nearside light? (not the bit you remove to get to the light, the whole lot)

surely it could be sqeezed into place? ive heard 3" fits so its only gota squeeze in 12mm each side of the tube

Yeah but ideally you don't want to create a bottleneck in the piping. A squished 4" feed with a bottleneck will be less efficient than one that's 3" all the way through.

Does anyone know if 1m is enough to make a feed from the front grill (left side of SEAT badge) to the air box?

Excatly...I used 76mm and that was perfect to run beside the battery and go into the box.

Yeah I have....I don't have a air box with air feed any more I have a cone filter down behind the bumper which in my opinion gives better performance [only my opinion not trying to start a debate lol]

Rather than trying to take a feed from the bumper I thought it was a better idea to just put a proper filter down there on the end of a ridgid smooth pipe....can't get a better air flow than that.

Unless you remove the bumper you'll need to cut/snap the bit of plastic thats in the way behind the light.

not seen that approach to creating a cold feed before - you got any pics of it fitted to the air box (or in position)?
