Can I join the dodgy airbag club?

I got letter yesterday, can only do it in 3 weeks/ booked. '14 Leon FR.

Very unnerving driving it until then, I must say. And I don't especially like the idea of Chinese replacement parts either.

I don't know how my Dad ever drove in his Ford b-max with 'airbag' written on the steering wheel: he has/ & had terrible anxiety. If you actually consider whilst driving that there's an explosive something primed in front of your face.. I mean it even gives me the jitters. But this.. defo causes me 3 weeks of some anxiety.

If it makes you feel any better - there's probably been 4 igniters within touching distance of you all the time you've owned the vehicle and a potential bomb under the back seats (fuel tank). The likelihood of the igniter causing you significant harm during a collision is extremely minimal.

There have been no deaths or serious injuries relating to this recall on UK soil.

A huge percentage of parts and things in general are made in China, not something to be remotely concerned about in 2026.

Yup thanks JamesR. It's just the one 18" in front of my face which I find unnerving. Should I think about it that is. Which I hadn't ever done, until this recall letter arrived.

Anyway yes I do have more confidence in China mfr stuff now, understood.

If anyone has had the job done, could they say how long it took? The dealer I have it booked into, said on th3 phone "hopefully 1-2 hours if it doesn't need an extra part.. but may be 3 hrs, or running into another day, if it does need it".

Which could be a hugely expensive -for me- hotel stay & wait. I live nowhere near any Seat dealer, had to book this in with one 100m away.

Thanks Zoot

My sisters 2015 Leon is affected, called Leicester branch twice, got through to a receptionist who said the relevant department would call back but nothing.

Got my letter sitting here tried to phone once but it was busy. I don't see it as an issue as its taken so long to get round to fixing this. So I will wait till next year sometime. Its been there 12 years without killing me after all.
