AIRBAG RECALL for MK3 Leon

Just saw a note on Facebook about an AIRBAG Recall, did a quick check on the web and found this page https://www.seat.co.uk/owners/airbag-safety-recall but not sure if its still valid.

My 2014 came back saying not an issue at the moment

Must be costing Takata a small fortune: both my MB and BMW have had airbag recalls.

That won't cost them a fortune. Takata also has suppliers, and the contracts with the OEM cover situations like this. Damage to the company's reputation is a different matter.

Takata went bust around 10 years ago as a result of their defective products being discovered.

The cost of the repairs is being covered be the respective brands who's vehicles have the parts fitted.

They were a huge Japanese parts manufacturer, I believe the new replacement parts are being manufactured by a Chinese company.

I think it does as it was raised by a MK3 Owner, this is the reply I got from the web page

Your vehicle with the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) VSSZZZetc has a Takata driver airbag, but is currently not affected by a Takata airbag recall.
Recalls are managed based on comprehensive analyses conducted by the manufacturer worldwide since 2016. The main criteria are the age of the vehicle and the climatic conditions in which the vehicle is operated (heat and humidity). Recalls are regularly expanded based on the results of these tests.
However, we ask you to continue checking the SEAT Website regularly for Takata airbag recalls that may affect your vehicle. You should do this repeatedly as the vehicle lists are updated regularly.
We appreciate your trust in the SEAT brand and look forward to continuing to count on your loyalty.

Anyone receiving a notification like that will more than likely be needing a repair. The vehicles are first flagged for repair, then the recall is released for certain chassis ranges.
