I really can't work it out.... I doubt anyone 'ravved' about the Concept, so why productionise it?

I saw the Altea Freetrack prototype today...oh wait no it was a scenic....
the only thing I can thing is that a Freetrak costs tupence to develop. However, its hardly going to scare Honda, Nissan et all with their soft-roaders.

Exactly. We're getting too many products from essentially one concept. I think there's a danger that other models in the range will be devalued by this approach. Leon, Toledo, Altea, Altea XL, Freetrak (OK the last three are triplets), but from the front are they not just far too similar. Not just that but what was essentially a distinctive and sporty look is now just being tinkered with with bits of dark plastic. The Streetwise revamp is exactly what this reminds me of unfortunately, but because it's been done before who will be suckered again?

may not be the best looking motor but it gets some serious kit , the price includes over head stowage and dvd monitor.not sure what else but stylance/sport spec at very least

It was todays Telegraph that said that circa 6 percent of new cars sold in the UK are 4x4 each year, so it's a pretty small market outside London where obviously you need such a vehicle for the school run and to get over those speed bumps without slowing.

It maybe a TFSi but the press release here and in Europe both say its a TSi. We don't do mistakes unless SEAT make them first.

had one in from the docks the 200bhp petrol. one of the techs took it across one of the local fields and he has said it does handle well on and off road.

I'm potentially in the market for something like a freetrack (or maybe the octavia 4x4 or scout)
I Currently drive a MK5 GTI...so I get to keep the same great engine.
The extra luggage space is always useful (can leave my golfclubs in there year round along with other 'stuff).
The sliding rear seat allows choice between legroom for rear passengers (if any) or maximizing 'boot' space
The 4WD will be a godsend on the annual drive down to Austria/Switzerland etc with the rest of the group for snowboarding/ski-ing...the fact it's not permanent 4WD and doesn't have low ratio is even better..you're not paying for things that rarely/never get used. The haldex 4x4 is the perfect solution in that respect.
