Hi guys,

Im confused. Ive found the cabin fuse box and can see the fuses numbered on it but I cant collate that to the fuse locations in the manual...it seems to be completely wrong in that spaces that are vacant have fuses, spaces that should have fuses are vacant. Theres only the front cigarette lighter that Im trying to fix (not sure if it is the fuse yet) but in the process I pulled on out (one of the big 20amp ones - to try and move it to the cigarette lighter location - to tesst) and it flew off into somewhere behind the dash! At the moment Im muttering words of hate towards this car and Ive never had cause to yet...

anyone got any info on what the fuses should be in which location in the cabin or am I over confusing the issue?

any help appreciated as Im a fuse down now and still not fixed what I started! Cheers.

I had a similar problem. Have a look at the link in this thread, p242 onwards. It should list the various locations and fuse ratings.

Thanks - checked it out...its exactly what I have in my manual which going from the fuses fitted in the panel under the steering wheel and checking their numbers - makes no sense whatsoever..Im wondering if the problem is the fuse section in the book is referring to the left hand drive...as the location it describes is the left and the fuse box is on the right of the steering column. Going to be a dealer question I think..unless anyone else has any ideas?

The layout of Altea dash panel fuse box was completely changed in May 2006.

If your fuse box layout is different than the one in manual, you must be running older Altea.

In the older configuration fuse 47 is for the cigarette lighter.

So the fusebox in on the right rather than left - it doesn't make much difference. Lets face it, most of the world have LHD and its not worth the cost of reprinting the entire manual just so the cartoons look RHD.

All the slots are numbered - a bit on the small side and maybe not the easiest to see - but should match what the manual that came with your car says.

Changing the 20amp fuse in the slot allocated for the front cigarette lighter fixed mine when it broke.

Interesting, the Altea we have is a May'05 and I think Ive got a new handbook as Im sure the dealer ordered new when we bought it. So do you have any more details on the fuse numbering (not wishing to trouble you)? If not its dealer time for an old handbook.

Thanks for your help!

I think the post above you is probably the issue I have...I was just trying to pick out some reason why it didnt match what I had. I can see the numbers printed, just - thats not the problem - they dont correlate to my handbook, which i think is the wrong one for the car.
