The FIAT (with this adolescent bodykit) is for the Owner that leads a boring life, so just wants to be noticed in public - like a bit of fame perhaps! Much like those that drive a (BMW) Mini or SMART Car - its their attempt at trying to make themselves "cool" ..... look at me, I'm cool, as I drive a "cool" car !

......Errrm, I think not. The cars not cool and neither are you.

Also the Fiat and SMART have a small 600cc engine (or something like that)??
Even then, you often see these cars caning it down motorways or A roads, trying to overtake everything else in sight - Why?

[/RANT]

Edit: This Thread was already headed for the Scrapyard.

The Fiat engine range starts at 1.2 matey, think the original 500 all those years ago had a 600cc engine.
I like the 500,it's a quirky little motor in my opinion.

Interesting as recent documentation on the Fiat stated this NEW model had a small sub 1000cc engine. Either way, my argument above still stands.

Why else would you want such a small car - apart from their perceived "cool image"?
Boot/storage space is crap - if theres any at all. They hardly cater for rear passengers of ADULT size - if at all. Also long journey drives would be a nightmare, and very uncomfortable.

^
Maybe Ive answered my own question there - thats why they drive so fast down motorways overtaking everything in sight, as they are so eager to get out (or maybe its just from embarrassment, so dont want to be seen)! lol

Not everybody wants/needs a big car, maybe they dont transport 4 adults about everywhere etc etc.Think you would have to drive one before making any assumptions.Fiat have always been known for their wee cars as well, haven't they?

Actually you can fit four people in it quite comfortably (having driven down to london four up) and the Abarth sports a 1.4 engine kicking out a healthy 135 horses. It is bloody quick in the real world and I somtimes have to be careful in the audi or the wife can lose me. If you come across one on the road by the way make sure it's not the essesse version or you might stand to be a bit embarassed ;)

The reasons for having a small car are numerous: don't need the space, live in town, economy etc...

Read a few very positive reviews on the abarth and essess, really like the sound of them.As previously stated,I like the look of the 500,compact,quirky and a lot of fun.
All the info you need and no mention of a 600cc engine-

As said before I love taking the Abarth out for a spin. Particularly when people with small car syndrome try to bully you. Hit sport and give them a friendly wave goodbye :)

As for the one canning it down the motorway, apologies, that was probably my missus...

I think these are cracking little cars, for some reason I've always like Fiats, mum and dad had a mk1 Punto back when they first came out and it was great!

We then got a Marea Weekend - bit of an ugly estate, but neither the punto or the marea showed any of the reliability issues Fiat have a reputation for.

think thats the Essesse version... basically an Abarth with a dealer installed crate of parts from Fiat to make it go faster !

Correct sir ten points! Plus uprated brakes etc...

And if you really are as mad as a bag of badgers then there's the asseto corse, which runs even higher bhp and comes with roll cage.... nuff said :)

im glad this post has evolved.
iirc the 1.4 is shared with the Alfa Mito engine? and these shift , i might actually buy 1 instead of my Cupra , im sure it will be a lot quicker than mine , and also better on fuel.

Go for it, it is great fun, especially with essesse kit. I was tempted when the first k1 went walkies but I thought we couldn't possibly be a two abarth family.... Don't get the punto abarth though, it's underpowered for its size.
If memory serves the wife gets 35 mpg, but that's all town driving and stop starting with learners. With different driving it does improve.

I personally don't like the look of the Leon without the Aero/K1 kit on it...does this make me a bad person?!! :hide:
