Yep, this is the kit I bought. Basically I has enough of waiting, and still hadn't got the manifold. I only had till early October to fit it all and the parts didn't start arriving till mid October (bearing in mind I ordered 1st August).

Knew the kit would be sat around for months on end so asked David jokingly if he wanted it, and within 12 seconds I had a PM back...! LOL. Also in the time I was waiting I started looking into a few other options as the money in my bank account was building back up, been looking into ATP GT2X, ATP GT28RS (Not GT2871R) and the usual IHI. Plus have been talking with a few companies to see if anything else new will be coming up in the future.

I wanted to be one of the first to run the kit, but if I had to wait till next yar to fit it by then someone else would have done it, so decided to move on and try something different and possibly go for more power.

In the mean time I have been doing interior and exterior work, the plan was to do these last after the turbo but I got bored of waiting!

Bad because E05 were not reliable! But as said earlier, Mike has ran it for 2yrs + with no problems, I wouldnt worry about it

Kev kicked the crap out of his for 2yrs (but did fail in the end)

I wouldn't say a test bed of 1 proves it's reliability (but hopefully it'll be fine)

It'll be fine - just don't kick the crap too hard out of it :) run it in properly (as if it were a new engine....) monitor oil temps before booting it & just behaive like you know you should before giving it stick.

I don't imagine Eurospec or A&M make the turbo's & there's only a finite number of places that would afford to set up the tooling for any of these types.

Interesting read!!

I am looking to upgrade my MKIV Golf 1.8T which runs APR stage 2 mapping plus a whole host of other mods.

I too run a late VVTI KO3s car and have been looking around for a reliable turbo package on a very tight budget.
I use my car alot on track and can't afford breakages using the big boys turbo's ie IHI and others.

Due to budget constraints I have been looking with Jim at Awesome at a new turbo which APR are promising to map. It is also of similar spec to the AM unit although I believe Turbo Dynamics have only recently released this turbo.
I will be fitting it onto a standard manifold initially as I don't know whether ATP will produce a manifold that will fit this unit.

I'm not sure whether to use a 3 inch DP over my current 2.5 inch item.
What are your experiences of this on the Cupra R's.

I assume this AM turbo kit is for Leon 1.8t rather than the Cupra R as this car already has the K04 turbo.

I personally would like to achieve a reliable 260-270 which is yet another 40bhp increase over it's current set up. Is the AM unit a better option than the Eliminators?

they turbo is constructed using a mix of parts i.e. k03s/k04 parts are new and sometimes refurbed i.e. from k03's to mutilate.... in actuator on david's case that was reused as sports actuator was requested.

All turbos are balanced checked, any refurbed parts re-checked. but core is new unless otherwise stated as we can do used options. housings etc will show signs of machining/modification etc....

Bill do you know what warranties turbo suppliers such as eurospec offer for their turbos when sold?? i.e. did E05 boys get full refund for their turbo popping ? or yourself with your IHI's going?

and thats becuase a turbo can go for a million reasons and alot of them is down to human error and/or excessive abuse

New turbo's I buy carry manufacturer warranties.
When I have had melted housings (not ever had a turbo fail big time fortunately) one time I paid for replacement as I went to P20 housing and other time replaced by supplier/mapper as it was killed during mapping.

still not clear on something mike, are you saying if something was to occur with the unit after a few months, there would be no comeback as its probably "down to human error and/or excessive abuse"

and how can this be proven?
