Heads-up for SEAT/CUPRA owners using Pixel phones: a recent post on Google support forums confirms an issue affecting Android Auto on Pixel 10 / 10 Pro / 10 Pro XL and now Pixel 11.

Google's Android Auto team has said the problem is in the car's head unit software, not the phone, and that manufacturers have released a fix. Their advice is to contact your dealership for the latest infotainment update.

My questions are whether newer cars with online connected services can receive this kind of fix automatically, and if anything will be released to help older ones where like my MY18 Ibiza where barely any phone connects first time...

Google Gemini told me that my MIB4/2650 needs to be upgraded to 2768 for that manufacturer fix. Understand I need to "push" the dealer to do it in the forthcoming annual service. Can't do it via the OTA, as it will be a big job lasting for hours.

P.S. I have updated Android Auto on my mobile phone (Xiaomi/Poco, on HyperOS3) to version 17.3.66xxxx, the issue of "failed connection at startup" has greatly improved. If you are also troubled by this same issue, try unlock the phone before getting into the vehicle, and leave the phone screen on until Android Auto is connected successfully to the vehicle.
