Heads-up for SEAT/CUPRA owners using Pixel phones: a recent post on Google support forums confirms an issue affecting Android Auto on Pixel 10 / 10 Pro / 10 Pro XL and now Pixel 11.

Google's Android Auto team has said the problem is in the car's head unit software, not the phone, and that manufacturers have released a fix. Their advice is to contact your dealership for the latest infotainment update.

My questions are whether newer cars with online connected services can receive this kind of fix automatically, and if anything will be released to help older ones where like my MY18 Ibiza where barely any phone connects first time...

Google Gemini told me that my MIB4/2650 needs to be upgraded to 2768 for that manufacturer fix. Understand I need to "push" the dealer to do it in the forthcoming annual service. Can't do it via the OTA, as it will be a big job lasting for hours.

P.S. I have updated Android Auto on my mobile phone (Xiaomi/Poco, on HyperOS3) to version 17.3.66xxxx, the issue of "failed connection at startup" has greatly improved. If you are also troubled by this same issue, try unlock the phone before getting into the vehicle, and leave the phone screen on until Android Auto is connected successfully to the vehicle.

Hi all!
Came here looking for something like this.
I have a 2023 Cupra Born and a Pixel 10.
I never loose connection but Android Auto laaaaaaaaaags terribly, to the point of uselessness.
Most recently it's the graphics on the head unit that get pixelated while using Android Auto.

The car is currently at the dealership because of a recall, so I can't confirm the head units firmware... (hopefully it comes back to me fully updated and the issue is fixed!)

In the Developer Menu of Android Auto, try limiting the graphic resolution to "1920x1080 max" or "1080x1920 max".

P.S. which AA version are you on? I was on 17.7.66xxxx which was "80% failed" when connecting at engine start. Successful rate improved to ~50% after updating to 17.8.66xxxx earlier this week. It was near perfect (>90% success) when running 17.6.66xxxx.

Hi!
I already changed it to 800x480, in despair - same result.
I'm on 17.8.66xxx
My problem isn't with the connection, it's with the lag and the graphic deterioration.

What if I uninstall all the AA updates?

I recorded a few seconds of the problem (while driving... i know, i know...)
Can you access it?

Have you tried wired AA? Still with the lags?

I would suggest a few more test:
(1) Same car with another Android mobile phone?
(2) Your Pixel 10 in another VAG vehicle (with MIB3/4)?
(3) Uninstall AA from your Pixel 10 (if possible) and reinstall with 17.8.
