:funk:Well, picked up the Emocion Red 2.0 TDI FR today at 4 pm.

The car was immaculately prepared and the pick up went seamlessly, so good work Specialist Cars Seat in Aberdeen.
I did a deal on the following extras:
Technology pack, 18" alloys, spare wheel, Alcantara seats.
When I got in the car, I was really surprised to find two bonuses:
The car had the convenience pack fitted and also had the supagard bundle in the boot. Now this is NOT something I would ever pay for. I get the feeling that they did my car by mistake? Well, im not complaining, it was free!
Did a quick handover, but Ive owned a lot of cars and am pretty tech savvy, so it ended up being a 2 min look around the menus.

Its now 8 pm and after visiting the kids we returned home having covered 50 miles.

So first impressions? Well, I have to say, im very impressed.
Now bear in mind that I traded in a 2011 Golf GT TDI 140, so it set a fairly high bar for the Leon to live up to. The Leon feels very similar to the Golf and Im really pleased with the build quality of it. All the panel gaps are tight, its very quiet at 70mph, the interior is well screwed together and looks very classy.
Im surprised I havent crashed it yet because of he sheer amount of options/ configurations on the navi / media system. There are literally hundreds of options, from being able to lock the doors once the car pulls away to being able to add icons to radio stations on the screen.....I guess it will need someone to figure out the icon format and sizes to do this, but it shouldnt be difficult. The changing colour of the in door lights from white to red in sport mode is a nice feature, although its not very visible until it gets dark.
The LED lights front and rear are amazing, very bright and certainly turn heads! The only other cars with similar lights are Audis, so Seat is in good company!
Driving wise, the car feels well planted and very stable. Its running on 18" contis, and at 70mph there is almost no wind, engine or road noise. Its definitely quieter than the Golf at speed.

All in all, yes its very early days but I am seriously impressed with the car. It has gone a long way towards making Seat a more luxurious brand. As mentioned, the build quality, refinement and general all round sportiness of the car means it will be sought after for the next few years. Its my first time of owning a Seat. I went to test drive the previous Leon twice, but on both occasions I just couldnt live with the interior. I think Seat have nailed it this time and will pull a lot more customers in through the doors who will go on to buy...

Nice one Seat looks like youve made a cracker....

Andy

Photos will follow soon, but its currently snowing in NE Scotland so the nice shiny car is no longer shiny ..

Oh, and as said by Wiganlad, if anyone needs any info about the car, give me a shout and i will get the wife to read the handbook and answer you!

Sounds great - wish I'd of gone for the FR now but such is life.

I missed a trick on getting the wife to do it. Plus when she asks "what that is" or "what's this for" I'll have the added bonus of being able to ask "well you tell me - you read the sodding manual"

Well, cant really answer either question!

Mpg is around 45mpg compared to 55mpg in the Golf on he same road.
However, ive only done 50 miles. The engine had 8 miles on it when collected, so i would imagine that its gonna take a fair few miles to loosen off and use less fuel!

Also, performance wise, i havent hammered it yet, as its so new. Certiainly feels as quick as the golf tho, and is keener to pull from low revs more than the Golf was. Is definitely more refined also - i guess it is just down to improvements in technology and build techniques etc?

Cheers Andy

Looks great Andy
Glad your pleased so far,
Still really enjoying my 1.2tsi SE
The mk3 seems like a brilliant all round package
The general feel , steering, brakes etc all seems improved over the mk2 which itself was a good car.

Damn looks great! I get my FR 1,4 TSI in black in a couple of weeks and cant wait, the FR looks so bad ass and with the LED:s it just looks amazing! I had a hard thinking between the red or the black FR but went for the black, the red looks really nice but I'm sure the black one will look as amazing too.

Will be nice to see the black one as there has not been a single pic up on the net with the car in black. I've only seen a pic/video on youtube where you can see it in black but I think its the SE version and not the FR.

Looking very nice in red. Reminds me a bit (thru my rose tinted spectacles) of a red MK1 Astra GTE that I had many years ago. Googling it ruined the memory a bit though! Might be tempted with red next time (in a couple of years).

how the dash feel? it looks potentially like a cheaper plastic or is that just a poor pic?

have to say, the mk2 will be quickly forgotten, the mk3 does look good, real potential for suttle additions to.

Dash is pretty plush top half, but gets cheaper the lower you go.
Kinda like the mk6 golf.

Certainly good enough in my opinion.
