Hi Bill,

I am not sure (still gaining knowledge in this field so would appreciate any pointers), I am using Mintex 1155s at the front and 1144s at the rear on 330mm AP floating disks and standard brembo callipers for the LCR. 5.1 fluid too of course.

What are you thinking?

I am looking to replace the whole front system so recommendations welcome. What do/did you run on the LCR in your track shots?

just thinking if you had changed to a caliper yet or not, as I have been asked several times over the years about rotors/disks to suit x,y,z porsche caliper, but they have a very deep pad swept area like you often dont get on 2-piece rotors.

The LCR pad sweep is ok for a lot of applications tho.

Bigger is leverage hence more braking obviously, as is pad material etc.

I dont run LCR, I do run my own 330mm 2-piece which is for the LCR kits I do however. Started using AP's due to name/rep etc, but reality was they cracked on me, twice and life was just too short from them. Changed to a.n.other make of rotor which is an AP pattern, and all was well again. (and priced just over 1/2 an AP, which does'nt hurt the wallet so much)

I have been approached by an offshore company to use their big brake kits. You can see them in my section. They are big arsed things. I cannot speak from actual experience of them tho, yet.

AP's are an option, slim calipers in the main. You dont want to get too carried away with the pots, as you still need a master cylinder to move them without too long a pedal. more pots more seals... So long as good pad control and even pressure, all should be well.

You are on 18" OZ yea?

I have not purchased anything yet - doing the research and crunching numbers at present. Plan is to do this at the end of the year (My AP disks will be 18 months old then and due to be replaced). They are 27.3mm thick at present so quite good wear considering they have done track days too - two sets of pads during this time!

I want something rock solid, I need advice from people who know like you as I wasn't ware that pistons had implications on MBC and pedal travel etc!

If you had a blank canvas and £2K what would you put on my LCR (stock aside from brakes and wheels that are 18" OZ UltraLegerras).

I use it currently as my road car but I need serious stopping power for the track which i will do probably 15 days next year (4 more to go this year). :D

helloooo,

just out of curiosity;
on a -04 LCR with brembo setup and 18" stock rims, what is the biggest and presumably best discs to put on it? 345mm ?

I think Badger5 mentions this in some of his threads on the subject. (possibly the thread I linked to above) I think you reach a limit to the area that the pads can sweep. Too big a disk and the pads cannot sweep the full surface area. Cant remember the exact size. But I don't think it was far off the 330mm's I've just bought.
Have a read of the threads, should help you out a bit.

Cheers,
Steve
