Anyone else noticed this?...

Iv got a 1.4s 99 reg mk 2 ibiza. Iv been noticing that when reversing onto the drive every now and again the lights dimmed and i got a squeaky noise. I fort it was me being dodgy on the clutch but i noticed last night that it happens when on full lock with the clutch fully down.
It happens both ways aswell. on gravel i pulled the the steering to full lock and the idle speed dropped off and the lights dimmed and the there was a squeaky sound. it corrects as soon as i release the steering again.
I havent had a chance to look at it properly yet but the standard wheels are quite wide and was wondering whether the right wheel was pushing the arch liner onto the alternator belt ??? any other thoughts?

the squeaky noise is the power steering rack reaching the end of it's 'travel' and the lights dim as the pump drains power from the battery to try and overcome the resistance from the rack at that point.....

had it on all my Mk2's

the fellar at the top is right, also check power steering fluid

o rite kool, well yeah every one who ownes an ibiza has good taste, i just never see beezas other than mine around colchester! full of corsa's and nova's! i didnt think romford was classed as essex? thought it was london borough!
