anyone got Auto-dimming side mirrors?

Side mirrors that gets darker when a rear car's light hits them

I know this has been done on mk4 Golfs, using audi glass. Do a search on ukmkivs
Dont think it can be done on late leons due to the shape of the mirrors

searched the ETKA catalog and there it was a part number of a mirror with autodim

would imagine not - seen as the teardrops were leon only and the glass is from the golf/a3 range and the golf definitely only have the square style mirrors

I have these on my leon, it had them when i bought them.

Wouldn't really call them auto-dimming though. They don't have a sensor or anything. I would just call them blue-tinted myself..

I spent ages looking for blue tinted teardrop ones but couldn't find any.
MK5 Golf ones are very similar but not the same shape

also on the ibiza you can find teardrop

They are not true auto dim like the rear veiw mirror is, they are only tinted blue to reduce glare.

I remember seeing some film you can put over the glass which is supposedly meant to get darker when light is directly on it.

Can't remember where I saw this, or what it's called, but not sure if it would actually work either!

It probably would work - a bit, it's probably the same idea as those glasses that specsavers do. The ones that turn into sunglasses when its sunny.
