anyone know about this seat leon cupra R...?

Hi chaps,

not been on here for ages, thinking about coming back to seat and looking at a cupra R, seen one on pistonheads but the guy says it was stolen in January from his house and they broke into the house to get the keys.

He has told me that there was no damage and the police recovered it 10 miles away from his home, went into rawdon seat near leeds to be checked over, no probs he says.

He has said that there will be no category listed through the insurance but will obviously show up as stolen / recovered, however told me not to do a hpi until about tuesday as he has been having probs with the insurance (directline) as they still have it as STOLEN! would it take them this long to sort it out?

I know most people would not touch it with a barge pole, just wandered if anyone knows about the car or even works in that dealership.

Do people actually buy stolen recovered cars? out of curosity I will call the seat dealer tomorrow and directline to see what they have got to say about it.

Not worth the grief to be fair, doubt you will get much out of the Dealer or Direct Line "Data Protection" and all that Jazz

Still charging a fair bit for it so the price isnt exacltly compensating for the fact that its stolen

I bought my 106 rallye as stolen recovered, average price for one at the time was £6000 and I paid £4300 due to the fact it was on the register. [was being sold as on V-Car]

When I came to trade it in most garages would not touch it and the ones that would offered 50-60% of market value, be very very carefull with anything that on HPI unless its very very cheap and your prepaired for a shock when you want to sell.

Having said that if its cheap enough you could get yourself a bargain...........is £6650 well under book price for one?

normaly you will be looking at about 60>70% of book value for a car with history
