Anyone use a bluetooth obd scanner

Recently puchased one of these and it arrived on friday,have tried 3 different android apps including Torque on both my mk1 and mk2 leons and still cant get it to connect.

Anyone else used these or have any experience?

If you have an early Leon, its not OBD2 compatible. Therefore will only work with VCDS. Not sure on your Leons year.
However if its not working on your Mk2 either then it sounds like a dodgy adapter. As it should work out the box for them.

I'm assuming you have the ignition on? Do you get any flashing lights on the adpator?

You should be able to see it when you scan for bluetooth devices, if you can't then it could well be faulty.

My mk1 is a 55 plate one of the very last.

The adaptor has 3 lights on the front, the one marked power goes solid so it's getting power and my mobile finds it and pairs with it but when I'm in the app it doesn't seem to connect or find adaptor.

If it has paired with your phone then check the ODB2 adaptor settings in Torque, ensure connection type is set to bluetooth, that the correct device is selected. There is also a hang fix for HTC/Samsung under general preferences that is set to auto on my phone. If all that fails there is a torque forum that might be able to help.

It's app settings. The Elm 327 Bluetooth obd device will speak to any Leon regardless of age. Is use torque on my 2001 LC all the time.

I use cheap ebay bluetooth obd2 on mk1 2001 cupra, don't have a problems at all!

First pair the device to your phone via the bluetooth settings, then open torque and it should connect

Cupra Ross, not true. Early Leons ('99- early '01) are not OBDII.

Dan, it's my understanding that they are all compliant, even the 99MY Toledo, they just weren't certified compliant until 2001. I used a Bluetooth OBDII interface on a 1999 Toledo 20V SE and a 2000 Leon APP engined 1.8T. Never had any problems with them.

The OP has an FR TDi which there is no doubt is OBDII compliant.

I have one for my 55 plate Fr and works perfectly, although mine works with the iPhone rather than android. I remember seeing problems with connecting in the reviews section of Amazon and someone suggested it had something to do with adjusting some quite confusing wifi settings. I've tried to have a look for that review but unable to find it. It might be worth you having a better look though as they gave you a step by step fix for it. Sorry I couldnt be more help

If you look at the torque app on android play store there is a warning in the description that some adaptors don't work, worth a look

I got ODBLINK LX, works just fine. Bought it a month ago had to pair it at first and it connects automatically.
Shame it doesnt read all the information but what it got its useful.

I had been trying the free torque lite app, might be worth buying the proper one incase that has anything to do with it.

mine got delivered today (elm327) and it took a while for it to actually connect but it has now and its great, i havent had any troublesome codes to delete so ill wait for them but for £8 all in, i really cant knock it
