Is possible to fit a front sway bar on my '96 1.4 Ibiza? Is there any direct fitment from other versions of Ibiza or other VW car or I need other parts in any case?
Also, do you call it sway bar in UK or what? Cause searching sway bar on the board didn't give me a lot of results.
Thanks
Mario

i farly sure all the wishbones are the same through out the range so if you get the correct size drop links to match the roll bar you should be fine

often wondered about this as kiwi is twitchy as fook and at high speeds soemtimes i'm not overly confident in her!

Your Kiwi should have pretty good arb's as standard...

You could look at fitting eibach's or whatever as an upgrade, but there's a few hundred quid.

Cheaper first off might be checking the little droplink-like end connectors from the ends of the front arb to the lower arms. Basically eye bolts with a rubber bush, which wears. Can be replaced for a tenner each or so. You could possibly fit polybushes in here, think that's about 25 quid, maybe less depending on the deal.

Other possibility might be suspension top mounts. Big lump of rubber and metal locating top of each strut into the body.

All assuming alignment spot on and no other suspension or bush wear... I've just ended up replacing pretty much everything bar the rack, engine, bonnet and wings forward of my windscreen... :(

yeah i had discussed the standard ones previously with someone, prob stu and the other half when he did his neuspeed front n rear on the LC...it's more me i think for some reason, never used to notice it so much and when she's fully loaded she seems less inclined to be unruly! i blame the coilies personally, think it's the crashiness of those that unnerves me a bit, hit a bump in the road and bouncy bouncy! :D reminds me i must get my alignment done but i begrudge £40 for it to be out again in the space of a week due to all the speedbumps and potholes where i am! :(

...s'pose it isn't something as daft as tyre pressures? Yokies in particular can be very precious about an exact pressure that may not be exactly what the book says...

As to local road condition, have ppl in your area had much joy suing the council for repairs caused by poor road condition? Forget specifics, but i understand there's a site where roads in need of repair can be tagged, and if the local authority does nothing, they become liable... :)

tyre pressures are as they should be,brand new toyo proxes 4's on at the mo with the pink rims and on the other 2 yoko s drive front and toyos back. it really does need it alignment doing as she's pulling left at the mo....i live in London, roads are abysmal, all marked up still with white paint from where they've been noted but yet to be repaired! so much for the 2wks rule eh? :)

as said i think it's me for some reason as i do gun it around town with no problems yet i think my wandering attention span on motorways doesn't help.they're so boring!

could also just be a bit of tramlining... I know Eleanor's a bit of a tart for following road camber shamelessly.

I think pretty much anything with widish low profiles tends to do this to some degree.

I've often thought my steering's a little over-assisted for anything but parking, too, but PAS is still a novelty to me ... :D

My Ibiza is like that, Im running 205/45/16 tyres and it tends to follow the camber of the road, also follows any grooves or anything like that in the road.

will a ARB from an mk3 fit my 1.4? I've seen the Mk3 has 23mm ARB, do you think it will be too stiff for my car or I can consider it?
