Looked really nice on sunday - also looked very cool heading up to the strip too and was getting a lot of looks too. You do realise you're going to have to either stick a VR6 in there or a 1.8T :) Or have you considered putting a bike engine in just for stupidity?
Cheers Pat, doing something out of the ordinary has it's merits :)

No heavy lumps are getting anywhere near this.. handling is what it's all about!

Bike engine gets my vote:D

Interesting idea, a bit too much work for me to stomach though?

Strap an eaton on ;)

Ahem, er, quite possibly

My A2 needs love too, my A2 needs love too, my A2...

:help:

Looked great at Inters :D Didnt get to see your go down the strip at all. What times did you get ?

Given I took the Arosa along to GTI International this weekend, it would've been rude not to take it along the 1/4 mile and see what it could do.. Unfortunately, there was a) no grip and b) a colossal headwind; making the results less than stellar:

8.94 0-60 and 16.99 1/4 mile

I think I'll be heading to Santa Pod to attempt this again under better conditions!

On another note, I finally managed to get the car on a weighbridge, where it tipped the scales at 50kg more than I would've hoped.. 910Kg (pretty much back to factory weight!).. I knew the cage was heavy, it's obviously a bit heavier than I thought!

This clocks up 130bhp/ton as a power-weight ratio.

So, plastic windows and more power it is for me next year!

Next up, back to the 'ring in 3 days..!

Apparently you can get the 1.4 engine up to lupo GTI spec which is a 1.6. Not sure how the 1.4 gets turned into a 1.6 without it getting bored out but im busy trying to find out. There seems to be a guy who is getting around 140hp out of his what was originally a 75hp 1.4 with lupo gti parts.

Erk - only just noticed there'd been activity in my thread - doh!

Ian, read what happened on GTI, hope it gets fixed dude:(
Aye, bit of a PITA.. was going to post up an update once I'd got around to finishing my trip report.. prob is, that hasn't happened yet :(

the other scn arosa broken as well ? whats up?
Tyres went off, I didn't cotton on soon enough, got smootchy with some armco

Some drivers-side sill damage (not structural), but the rest is all front end - bumper/rad/front panel and one headlight. Problem is, the UK company who recovered the car the last few miles to my garage used a forklift truck to smash the sump and power steering pump :censored:

Car will hopefully be on the road after tomorrow ready for a trip to the BTCC at Oulton Park (test-run out), before returning to the 'Ring a week from now. I just hope everything else is OK given as I type ithasn't yet got the sump/pump/rad/front end fitted :( One busy day awaits on Sat.

I love the inside of your car and i have never seen such a branke cooling system! Very interesting!
In germany you would get in trouble with this rebuilding. :)

Touches wood as I haven't yet.. mind you, it doesn't exist anymore thanks to the above - I'm going for a more 'direct option' instead following the 1/2 season rebuild :headhurt:

I'll post up full rebuild details and hopefully a very late trip report soon, but it may not be until a couple of weeks from now!

Indeed.. if it wasn't for the muppet in the forklift (yes, the hole in the sump is precisely the size and shape of a fork) the car would have been running again over a week ago now. Unfortunately those parts have been on back order.

The cage certainly prevented more sill damage tho mate so top work!

shame to hear about that :(. really liked your arosa at inters.

do you knwo what caused the tyre to come off ?

are the forklift people paying for the new sump etc ?

It'll get worked on during the winter so will end up looking tidy again :)

The tyre didn't come off.. the tyres 'went off' as in grip decreased and sliding began :(

Negotiations are in progress with ADAC about the sump damage, I have a feeling it may take a while..!

Sorry to hear about your graze Ian, I hope you can get the bits to fix it quickly. Can't you get a sump from GSF to get it back on the road? I'm sure they stock them!
