ash tray light

Hi all, I was wondering is there a way to put a small light in the ash tray since it doesnt have any, maybe to take power from the lighter, but how to open the middle console? the tray itself has a little red glas but no bulb!

Older ibiza's had illumination in the ash tray, its a light pipe off of the lighter illumination but this was dropped from later cars.

It should be possible to order the bits though. Just need someone with ETKA to find it for you!

Is yours an SE? What other lights have you got – bootlight, glovebox?

nope not an SE, its got a boot light and the other standerd ones. Fitting a glove box light soon 2

I don't think I'll every understand SEAT's specifications policy. It seems if they've got a box of lights lying near the production line they'll fit them. If not – tough!

I have done this mod to my mk4

get the fag lighter assembly from a mk3, this has a slightly different ring and a lamp fitted to it, then connect the lamp up to the traction control switch illumination wire, this will make it light up when you have your lights on or connect it to the supply to the fag lighter itself, this is not so good as the lamp will be on all the time


the fag lighter lamp illuminates the ash tray too
