ATTN ALL DIESEL DRIVERS! Fuel Additive query..

Do any of you use or know anyone that uses Miller Diesel Power Sport 4 Fuel Additive? (Or any other brands equivalent) Ive been reading about it, and a few lads on Alfa and Beema forums seem to gain MPG and throttle response low down the rev range. But others dont notice any difference at all.... Probably women drivers. Before i buy and try it im just after your lots oppinions.

I used to use it when my car still had a DPF, now that it is removed i no longer use it.

It made the regeneration of the DPF less frequent so was good, never noticed any enhanced throttle response or economy to be honest.

Now that my dpf is removed i did try it and to be honest it made it a bit hessitant so no longer use it.

I've been using Millers in mine since remap and found it to be a lot more responsive and also less smoke,notice a bigger difference if you use supermarket diesel.

I Occasionally send a few squirts of Millers Sport 4 through but havent really noticed a difference

Is it advisable to use on the newer CR diesels? Or would regular v-power be ok to clean injectors?

If you believe Shell's own marketing, then their regular/FuelSave diesel works by containing cleaning additives to help keep your engine efficient... so I reckon the only reason to use V-Power would be if you value the fact that it contains synthetic GTL (gas-to-liquid) diesel - meaning it looks purer and smells less. The performance improvements of using V-Power diesel with modern CR engines are supposedly less than with older derv engines, from what I've read.

I use millers in every tank on my remapped beeza cupra tdi. Makes in run smoother, more responsive, 3 mpg better average.

Somebody on here emailed shell regarding the contents of both V-Power and Fuelsaver asked them how much Cetane and Biofuel is in both

According to shell themselves both contain below 7% biofuel and Fuelsaver has more Cetane

I always used to use it in my focus, it cut down on the smoke quite a lot but i noiced no performance or mpg improvements, I think i ran it over 40k.

Have used 250ml per full tank and YOU DO notice improved response, afraid mpg no better due to the improved response though and right foot !!! Otherwise I just used to double dose per full tank.

I've been thinking about trying this, but wasn't sure how much was hype and how much was real effect.

My current car is my first diesel and having read this might give the millers a go.

Just to let you know I have had my 58 reg fr for about a year now and it has covered about 12,000 miles all together. I have covered about 6000 miles since i picked it up and about 3000 of these have been racked up using millers additive. During the first 3000 miles i saw the dpf light about 3-4 times and havent seen it once since using millers. To be honest i havent felt too much of a difference from behind the wheel but if it helps keep that damn filter clear i am going to continue to use it.

Concurr, done 120k on other models with no problems keeps the engine intake internals lot cleaner and always had comments at MOT time on how the exhuast values were v low [ clean]

The benefits sound good but the Millers web site says the additive is safe for "all diesels especially modern Euro IV compliant ones", but VAG's newer CR derv engines like the 1.6 in my Ecomotive are Euro V compliant. Do you reckon it's OK to use with these?

My car hasn't done any noticeable regen shenanigans (yet, touch wood) - certainly not lit up any warning lights or ought. Not sure whether to bother with this stuff as I already use Shell diesel which includes detergents etc...

Well, I decided to ask Millers directly whether their "Diesel Power Ecomax" fuel additive was suitable for Euro-V compliant diesel engines like the one in my MY11 Leon Ecomotive when the blurb just mentions compatibility with Euro-IV compliant engines... so I dropped them an email.
They responded the same day, so kudos to Millers for the great customer service there.

Hi Matt, I have the very same engine in my new Golf 1.6 TDI. I use the additive in my car and we should soon be updating the relevant paper work.

Incidentally, I noticed my car idling at ~950rpm while sat at lights last night (after quite a bit of city driving)... and it usually idles at 750rpm when stationary and the auto-stop wouldn't engage either, so I think that was the 'first stage' regen happening?
If so, looks like I have a good excuse to buy some of this magic potion and see if I notice any further regen type stuff while using it regularly for a few tanks...

been putting the recommended 50ml per tank full in the Leon (CR TDI FR) since the day i got it, well the first tank full i put in it...

i cant honestly say whether it aids mpg or not, the average mpg since i got the car is 47mpg, this hasnt been reset since day dot either and there is now just over 12K miles on the clock (got the car in Jan this year).

the other week i was putting the additive into the tank when this guy walked over and asked me if the car had a computer on it... i looked at him with a puzzled face and said yes, an ECU... he then proceeded to tell me that i shouldnt use the additive, i told him it had been fine for the last 6 months on it to which he said Peugeot told him not to use it... i just raised an eye brow and he walked off in the end...

my bro has a Golf mk5 tdi (PD 170) and when VW serviced that last they said there was some contamination in the fuel. they checked the fuel system and couldnt find anything wrong though, he also uses Millers additive...

to be honest, i think if i stopped using it now i would convinced myself that the car was slower, less responsive or that the mpg was suffering...
