I've literally just bought some TT como wheels for my car,
But scrolling through the forum I have seen nothing but negative comments regarding having these wheels on your car, I have 2006 ibiza fr (if it makes any difference)

Basically I want to know if its worth keeping these wheels and raising the car to try and avoid wheel arch scrubbing (tyres are 205 40) or if I would be better off selling them and getting a better set of fitting wheels??

Ive just had them refurbished and sprayed in a dark grey so not on the car atm.

Is it worth it guys??

HELP HELP HELP lol

TBH if it was me I would take it on the chin and sell them on ebay before getting a aftermarket set that fit correctly.

Not sure I would want to raise the car just for it to dip under a emergency braking situ and restrict the steering or lock the wheels etc.

Just my thoughts though

Just out of interest mate, what do you mean by locking of the wheels?
Is that possible?

In my opinion mate, all wheels fit (within reason) its just how much modifications are needed to make them fit.

TT Comps look great and although I've never seen them on a mk4, I'm sure they would look sick![B)]
If it was me, I'd look at whats needed to help them fit and decide from there!
Would you/have you considered running some stretch and camber to clear the arches? You can get away with a tiny amount of stretch 99% of the time and a small amount of camber wont ruin your tyres any more than standard..

The choice is yours mate!
All the best,
David

Im running 205 40 atm could possibly go to 195 but thats skinny tyres then.

I can probably get away with removing my 20mm spacers at the rear atlnd that would help but there isnt any camber adjustment on the fronts on the mk4 which is pain :-/

Is that on standard wheels?
And you can buy camber adjust bolts which replace the top bolt on your front strut. Bit of a fiddle to fit I believe though!

No the 205 40s is what is on the tt comps at the minute.
Mmm I may look into buying these camber adjustment bolts then if just raising the car 10-15mm doesn't work.as soon as I've got it done I will post some pics up
cheers for your help there mate
Ben.

I ran them for a year with no problems, had 10mm spacers on back and 5 front. scrubbed the plastic arches but nothing else. My BBS RK's so exactly the same

I can happen. Had a mate put big wheels on a Fiat Uno turbo many moons ago. Had someone pull out on him so he stood on the brakes but the wheels jammed on the arches and locked stopping him steering so he hit the car. Insurance did not pay out as it was a non standard mod, so he got sued for the damage. Messy.

Camber adjust bolts for 6L Ibiza, are you sure that you are not getting confused with the 6K Ibiza camber adjusting bolts - ie as fitted standard to 6K Ibiza etc?

I don't think so... :what:

I'm sure you can buy camber adjust bolts that replaces your top bolt on your strut, depending what way you fit it depends on the type of camber (positive or negative) and how far you round you turn it depends on how much camber. I think it only goes to like 1.6° if I remember right

Would not work mate :( The mk4 lower struts locate into the wheel hub on a diameter, the hubs top bolt is a pinch bolt. It goes through the lower strut bolt hole and the hub, and it closes the hubs diameter around the lower strut, clamping it up and pulling it sqaure and parrellel into the hub, as it is only a pinch bolt there is no way you can adjust camber with it sadly.

Those bolts only work on cars with lower struts that externally bolt onto the hub, with a pivot bolt and that cam'd bolt normally at the top mounting point, still can be tricky to adjust correctly though.

Hope that helps :)

You can however probably adjust camber by using an offset center rear TCA bush, but not sure how much adjustment it would actually give you. Super pro sell anti lift bush kits which use offset bush centres, got them in my car, not tried using them for camber though, only for castor adjustment :) (my centres are offset towards the ground).

You could also perhaps try cambered top mounts? (Not seen them for mk4's) Not sure if that'll work though tbh as you have no hub adjustment and I wouldn't trust it :)
