I may just be paranoid but my engine seems to be getting a tad louder. Currently at 105k miles. It's about due an oil change but the last week or so iv started to hear a noise at idle while sat in car. It's not a tick, it's more a tock.... Open the door can't hear it. Pop bonnet and it's there if you listen for it. Head close and it's from the rocker cover open oil cap and can hear it inside. C
Oil level is fine, about 7 month old. Was the Mobil fully syth recommend
Is it just the cupra r that suffers from oil pick up problems or is it worth investigating
Anyone had anything like this on the Auq... I'd rather sort it before it becomes a problem. Can't really hear it at raised Revs
Updated after cleaning, code 16396,

You need to stop driving it and get the sump taken off to check the oil pump pick up filter ........... its classic milage for the problem which causes low oil presure at the head . It will trash the motor if you leave it

Not too bad of a job really, did it on driveway had it warmed up and on boost runs OK, no noisyness and upto now no leaks *touch wood*

Driven roughly 30 miles and have had eml. Code 16396 and 17705 (n75 related) but the first after searching seems to point towards oil pressure effecting cam adjustment. Coming on after iv done the work has me worried, it's not noisy, it runs fine, discard it for now and see if it returns? Drop oil and add fresh stuff incase of any contamination (it was all rinsed and dried) oil level on dipstick is fine, no sludge on that or oil cap.
All iv done for the last 12 months is replace faulty bits getting rather bored now!! Cars testing me!!!!

sounds like a plan ........... if it comes back prehaps worth getting the oil pressure checked to see if it is in tolerance ......... if not new oil pump may cure problem

That code points towards the Vvt tensioner. They have been known to become faulty due to either wear and tear or lack of oil pressure. Best to delete the code and see if it returns if it does I would say the Vvt tensioner is now faulty because of the blocked pickup pipe. A new one maybe needed.
