Has anyone seen where the option for auto lock is when driving away? I've gone onto the central locking options on the infotainment screen but it's not listed, only door lock options (all doors/driver side) and interior monitoring.

Sorry cant help on the Mk4, but I was able to turn it off on my Mk2 in the settings (which i did as it started to get a little bit eager and locking and unlocking randomly as i was driving.) Perhaps its something that you need to do with VAGCOM or similar now.

@Rob66 - With VW it also used to be possible to switch off the auto lock function in the vehicle settings. However, with my last VW, that option had been removed and a courtesy car I had also had the option removed.

@leonfr89 - if you’re wanting to deactivate the auto lock function I’ve personally never felt the need to do this and I’m happy the car locks me in 🙂. As @Tell has said, it’s safety feature to prevent car jacking and keep the vehicle occupants safe during car jacking attempts. I’m pretty certain that in the event of an accident the doors auto-unlock so emergency services can gain access to the vehicle interior and / or occupants can get out.

On the last according this piece the airbag system is used to release the locks.

I guess if you search the NCAP board you'd find their specification and tests.... like this:

I've had the issue since new (September 2025) Dealer said they'd check it out. Same day it went in, I got a call and was told they couldn't replicate the issue, I was insistent and showed them a video of the car not locking when I walked away. They took it back in and said to leave it with them for a few days I'm not sure they did anything but the car looked as if it was parked up since I left it. So, I left it a couple of days then I contacted my dealer but this time I did some homework and copied and pasted some info from different forums showing the problem was not isolated, I didn't send the email until just before I left to go back to the dealer. Guy said he would look into it after reading my forum stuff, he knew I wasn't giving in and asked for a week to ask Cupra what's going on...... Watch this space

This thread is about anti hi-jack, not the KESSY walk away locking feature?

I wouldn't trust auto lock and unlock in anycase ;).
Anti hi-jack has always been a reliable and robust system, KESSY walk away locking can be very hit and miss.

Yes it beeps to let you know it's worked but I'd much rather press the fob myself just for peace of mind.

Or touch the door handle and see the mirrors move in. I never use the Kessy key, stays in my bag, only comes out once a year or if the batteries needs changing. You did provide information on which Kessy's couldn't be read. We concluded the new cars were as safe as houses except you had to secure your house from break in so they didnt nick the car. First generation Kessy's dont have the rotating security so can be read remotely.

My current (non-VAG) car has walk away locking / unlock on approach. One of the first things I did on day one of ownership was to permanently disable this function via the vehicle settings as I also prefer the peace of mind of locking / unlocking by using the fob.
