Auto lock

Is it not locking or you want to stop it. The feature is designed to prevent car hijacking when stationary. Gone are the days when you had to lock yourself in, it does it for you.
@Rob66 - With VW it also used to be possible to switch off the auto lock function in the vehicle settings. However, with my last VW, that option had been removed and a courtesy car I had also had the option removed.
@leonfr89 - if you’re wanting to deactivate the auto lock function I’ve personally never felt the need to do this and I’m happy the car locks me in
. As @Tell has said, it’s safety feature to prevent car jacking and keep the vehicle occupants safe during car jacking attempts. I’m pretty certain that in the event of an accident the doors auto-unlock so emergency services can gain access to the vehicle interior and / or occupants can get out.

I've had the issue since new (September 2025) Dealer said they'd check it out. Same day it went in, I got a call and was told they couldn't replicate the issue, I was insistent and showed them a video of the car not locking when I walked away. They took it back in and said to leave it with them for a few days I'm not sure they did anything but the car looked as if it was parked up since I left it. So, I left it a couple of days then I contacted my dealer but this time I did some homework and copied and pasted some info from different forums showing the problem was not isolated, I didn't send the email until just before I left to go back to the dealer. Guy said he would look into it after reading my forum stuff, he knew I wasn't giving in and asked for a week to ask Cupra what's going on...... Watch this space
Anti hi-jack has always been a reliable and robust system, KESSY walk away locking can be very hit and miss.I wouldn't trust auto lock and unlock in anycase.
Yes it beeps to let you know it's worked but I'd much rather press the fob myself just for peace of mind.
Or touch the door handle and see the mirrors move in. I never use the Kessy key, stays in my bag, only comes out once a year or if the batteries needs changing. You did provide information on which Kessy's couldn't be read. We concluded the new cars were as safe as houses except you had to secure your house from break in so they didnt nick the car. First generation Kessy's dont have the rotating security so can be read remotely.
My current (non-VAG) car has walk away locking / unlock on approach. One of the first things I did on day one of ownership was to permanently disable this function via the vehicle settings as I also prefer the peace of mind of locking / unlocking by using the fob.
We concluded you can't turn it off. It locks you in but then you said on the thread it wasn't working. Leaving the car unlocked. My normal comment when Kessy misbehaves has anyone been near it with one click apps or been trying to reprogramme Kessy behaviour. How it works is there is a mph speed to trigger central locking. People try to fiddle with that. Could be a duff lock.
Early Formentors had an issue of people finding all doors locked and they couldn't get in. Think this was the power saving feature to make all doors except the drivers side to deactivate. Just on early Formentors they all went to sleep together.
May be it still thinks a door is open so doesn't activate central locking when moving. Who knows. That's why it's a good idea not to mess with one click apps on Kessy. Coding you can always reverse and on that I did activate what is now the standard feature of one touch locking. Atecas for the first year or so had you hanging around on the button for 3 seconds or so to achieve central locking.
Back to the dealer if it's misbehaving.

I also want to disable this auto lock. I could with my previous Audi, but not my Mk4 Leon.
Autolocking after driving exceeding certain speed (9mph as said in the Owners Manual) would be the reason why the door actuators in VAG vehicles always fail within 5 years. I had all 4 actuators replaced in my previous Audi (due to doors could not be opened from outside), but working fine for many years after having this autolocking disabled.
