Well I put in my car for its 2nd service on Friday and was greeted with the news that ...you guessed it my rear discs were badly corroded and my pads are ruined because of this! Anyone ever heard of this ? car is only a 56 plate so is 14 months old and has done 18,000 miles. They are going to phone me during the week as the said it should be covered under warranty.

I seem to think mine where the same. Took ages to clean up. Can't remember how they cleaned up or whether they did it at service....

yup, this is a known problem with low mileage ibiza's that do short trips. Mine were quite bad at one point but I keep on top of them now by putting the handbrake on 1 or 2 clicks for 500ysd once every couple of weeks. Basically the rear brakes do very little as the car is very light at the rear

do a search and you will find others have posted pics for you to compare

Mine were the same when I had the Ibiza, had this out with SEAT and they are not covered under warranty. Mine were shot after 9k miles and SEAT refused to touch them under warranty, so your lucky if you get them sorted.

My new car doesnt have this problem as its much heavier, but I used to do at least 25 miles a day slowing from 70 down to 0 many times, so I dont think its just short journey cars that suffer. The Ibiza is just too light to benefit from rear discs, unless your horsing it everywhere (not practical for most drivers)

This isn't a Mk4 Ibiza issue... its a VAG car issue.

VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda cars with rear brake discs... VW have been using the same callipers and setup for about 15 years (Probably more)!

Thats probably why my handbrake is rubbish!
Dustbin lid discs on the front, milk bottle top discs on the back!!
