I think BAM used a thicker wrist pin, therefore by using AUQ pistons and rods you'll be using a thinner wrist pin; capable of taking less power - for extra security I'd go for BAM rods and pistons so you get the thicker pins.

also share valves, stem seal, cotters, valves, followers and most other bits in the head according to Vagcat

right, im with you now.... yep shouldnt make a difference.

the block will be the same, use the lcr peripherals, lcr ecu.. map etc then all will be fine

injectors off lcr to swap with the auq injectors.

got it. right ho, go for it matey.

Got there in the end, James :)

I did excatly what you did on my Ibiza whilst at santapod.

All I did was replace 4 valves and 2 pistons and valve springs, can you not just do that and save a lot of bother?

Or just use a AUQ head and replace the needed pistons....or are the rods bent?

Well the cams etc are the same but I'd double check part numbers before spending any cash.

Do you really need a whole new head from just 1 broken valve?

I broke a valve clean in half and bent another very badly but it didnt damage the head at all, 4 new valves and guides and it was good as new.

Id say so yes ....

From what i can see, all that is diffrent on the head is the rocker cover. I guess all the heads are the same, just diffrent rocker cover and as mentioned the pins in the pistons on the later BAM models, over all i imagine the block and head are the same.

Ive dug some good info here which maybe usefull to all.

They both have VVT, Both large injectors, Both DBW throttle body, just the turbo and pin diffrent.

Vital info highlighted here
