well last night my battery decided to giv up the ghost.all this cold weather took its toll on it.when i put the new battery in how do you reset the ecu.

If the battery was disconnected it'll be reset.

reset the ecu, what are you on about , mines been off time and time again it wont reset the ecu and you dont need any radio code

It clears the engine lights etc but it doesn't clear the codes from the ecu.
If it's disconnected for about 10mins it resets it.

As Baz said, a disconnection will reset all adaption values. The ECU will then "re-learn". Thus why it's done after fixing a problem e.g faulty MAF
