Black Ploom of Smoke TDi

Hi looking for some advise have just been driving and had to limp home on what I guess was safe mode with a horrible squeeling noise.

When I was driving up hill had a big ploom of black smoke come out the back then lost most of the power of the car, managed to limp it back to the garage as no recovery option availble, guess that wasnt the best thing to do but needs must.

On the way back there was a horrible squeeling noise when ingaged in gear and acelerating ect.

Has anyone got any ideas on what this might be and how serious???

I don't realy want to sugest turbo bearings.

That was my first thought something turbo.... I think what ever it is going to be expensive, what is the aprox damage on Turbo Barings?

Sounds like the classic boost pipe popping off.

Was it something along the lines of BANG! Black smoke. Strange noises?

If so, have a look at the pipework leading to the ic at the drivers side of the engine bay.

Chances are its blown a pipe off.

Does the engine sound like the exhaust has come off? If so, with the black smoke I would say you have popped a boost pipe, probably the one by the drivers side headlight.

I would guess at a boost pipe, but if you can hear squeeling - it might be the turbo.

Just got the verdict it is the turbo

I was asked about any warranty, does anyone know if the warranty of the turbo is longer than that of the car???
