I have my BlackBerry Pearl connected to my Altea's bluetooth phone system and can make/receive calls.

However, despite the fact that there is definitely an Address Book synchronised across, as displayed on the MFD, that nice electronic lady refuses to accept it, and constantly tells me that no Address Book is available when I try voice dialling etc.

Also, the BlackBerry has (what would have been) a cool feature where you can tell it to synchronise only those in a particular category in the Address Book. I've created a category 'Car' with a sub-set of contacts in it. However, the supposedly non-existent Address Book on the Altea has all my contacts in, so it takes much longer to scroll to the desired name.

Anyone else seen this, and better still found a way of getting the correct contacts synchronised and recognised on the Altea?

Regards

I think the voice tag book is separate isn't it? Can you browse your address book on the car and dial through that?

Yes, I can browse the Address Book on the car, via the MFD. It's just that I have all my contacts, rather than just the few I'm likely to actually want to ring from the car.

Given I can't use voice dialling, I have to manually scroll through all the contacts to get to the one I want to dial manually.

If I can't get the voice activation working, it would help if only the 'Car' contacts synchronised

Ah - so it's working a lot better than most.... I'd fiddle round with things at the blackberry end to get just your car list sent. I think your next problem is clearing the current contact list of all the people you don't want. I think you can do this by pairing a second phone which will overwrite the first, then re-send your smaller list from the BB.

I have the BT integration in my Toledo and can confirm that to use voice dialling, you have to store each voice dial contact into the BT kit.
Check out the Communications? user manual you shouild have got with the car.

Cheers,
John.

Apparanetly there are 'issues' with symbian O/S phones like N95 et all which occur with these bluetooth units, possibly that is the issue on this phone

I use Nokia symbian OS phone (currently 6110 Navi) and have now got used to not having phonebook available on car BT unit.
However, I understand that Nokia do a symbian phonebook utility that may correct this issue and allow phonebook download to bar by bluetooth - probably downloadable from support section of www.nokia.co.uk
I haven't got round to trying it yet, but if someone gets it to work, let me know!

John.

Hmmm, brace for disappointment. I tried it with my 6680 (s60/Symbian based) and it didn't work. That was a year or so ago though so they might have released something better in the meantime.

Thanks but........

Thanks everyone. I have a BlackBerry, not a Nokia and so Symbian solutions aren't an option, even if viable.

It's frustrating, as it's almost there but at least I can make / receive seamlessly, with the phone hooking up with the car as soon as I get in, so it could be worse.........
