Bonnet leather cover

Has anybody experience with such leather covers/shields of bonnets??

I am thinkig if it is good idea to protect bonnet during winter times against small rocks and salt lumps flying away from the wheels of car in front of me or not?

Or wet conditions does not make good job on the bonnet itself, so it will just support rust of the bonnet (because it takes longer to dry)?

They can be good but they can also be terrible for the paint. When water gets trapped underneath it creates bubbles in the paint work and leaves discolouration and lifting of the lacquer. I haven't had personal experience because of this reason. I've had a couple of friends that had this problem and had to get the bonnet re-sprayed. Big spots of discoloured paint is a lot more noticeable than stone chips

Correct, another negative which I forgot.
Different sun aging, so different color tint on the bonnet.....

Whenever I see these on cars, I think they look ridiculous. It doesn't help that every Corsa and his badman exhaust has one round here either.

That looks ridiculous I could never do that to my car. I think they are pointless, all good and well but what about the rest of the bumper or headlights? I'd just further keep my distance in winter like you should and play it safe that way

That thing is absolutely ghastly. It's the equivalent of putting a £1.95 from Amazon green plastic cover on a new iPhone 6S.

Did you ever seen 20y old car with origin bonnet, headlights and bumper?
Lights and bumper are without any visible marks of use, no stone chips. Because they are plastic...
Bonnet is covered with a lot of ugly white marks without any color after stone hits and mainly in the area which is hidden under this bonnet bra.

This is the only reason why I was thinking about it.

To be honest unless you're keeping the car 20 years i wouldn't worry, i personally can't keep a car more than 2 1/2 years as i get bored. It would more than likely of had half its parts donated or crushed by then anyway. I currently until next week have a 2003 corolla coming up to 120k not before long and has the original bonnet. Over 12 years and that many miles it doesn't look battered at all. I have just had the windscreen replaced though due to various boulders hitting me on the m25! If i was spending my money id get a good polish and wax on followed by some life shine applied to protect the interior as well as the exterior. In fact thats exactly what I'm getting done to my 2011 se copa i pick up next week by seat.
