Boost gauge, a couple of pointers needed

i'm thinking of getting a boost gauge and have looked at guides for fitting on here, i'm a bit more confident but the wiring seems to confuse me a bit ( not very difficult )
Pabs guide shows 2 wires connected to the light switch others show 3, are 3 wires for the fancy dancy led gauges and 2 wires for normal light up gauges? also i'm about to put a DV coldside kit on, is the vacuum pipe still ok joining at the DV or is the FPR a better source?

i've not thought of where to mount it yet so any opinions would be welcome

use the fpr as your vac source. 3 wires is when the gauge has a memory (ie for a multi colour gauge to remember the colour to be used).

i have a smoked gauge similar to that and its quite difficult to see in the daylight but looks brilliant at night

thats the one i've got and the red and orange wires went to the + and the black to the - if thats any help

iv got auto gauge from halfords 30 psi cost £20 seems pretty good for th money, well did in the 306. not fitted to the cupra yet, (next mod me thinks)

most go through a grommet on the drivers side of the scuttle panel.

i didnt have one so i greased it up and fed it through the bonnet release cable grommet. no leaks or problems.

The cars are identical, even down to where the FPR is on the fuel rail

Not all Leons are the same I put boost guage in mine on tuesday and looked at this guide before starting

When I actually got to fit it my normal 02 Leon Cupra doesn't have that gromit in the picture, instead it has a really big funny shaped gromit that the main harness goes through.................you put your vacum line through there

The wiring is the same as the guide tho, the wiring is the easy bit getting that vacum line routed is the hard part.

Get a picture up mate, as the wiring harness cover I'd have thought was a mass produced item, unless someone as already added a rubber grommet.

I can't get a picture unless I take the wipers and scuttle panel off.

I know what your saying about the main harness and I agree its prob same on all leons but that little gromit on the picture guide is 100% not there on my car

Mine was solid next to the main harness, had to drill it.

I put mine through the gromit with the main harness to save drilling extra holes, I also ran it through the other main harness gromit into the engine bay so it looks neat and tidy

This is where I went through into enging bay and same harness gromit in bulkhead to get behind dash

Saved myself a lot of money by buying a universal pillar mount and spending hour or so making it fit

Looks better at night when its all lit up

I went in through the bulhead on a unused grommit by the bonnet release cable and t-pieced of the hose that goes into the inlet manifold, i was not sure about using the FPR as i wanted to leave anything with fueling alone.

The wiring i connected the wires into the dimmer control and lighting control, using the dimmer wire for control and used the main 12v off the main lighting control, but that was for a fancy led multi colour.

Yeah but don't drill it because its soft rubber you can either cut it with a knife of push a screwdriver of something simular through to make the hole, same for the gromit behind in the bulkhead.

Wipers are 2 13mm nuts, scuttle trim lifts off.

The pod didnt fit at all I spent a while reshaping it before fitting.

Was yours just totally universal..? becuase iv seen one on ebay for around 30quid.. single pod for direct fit to Cupra Ra pillar aparently..
