I'm searching for a boostgauge for my TDI. I need a 0-2bar gauge, without vacuum. Where can I find one? I've looked thru Ebay and lots of online shops, but I couldn't find one like that.

Look for Racetech gauges.

I think www.raceparts.com has them (might be.co.uk)

I have a black one which has -1.0bar to +2.5bar. Perfect for a TDI really. [B)]

Direct Link. :D

and this is it.

Yep, I want one in bar. Over here we measure pressure in bar :D

Why did you take a gauge with vacuum? I thought that diesels don't produce vacuum like petrol turbo cars.

I guess that they produce vacuum when the turbo is not spooling enought and the engine is under big load,,, but some of the gurus might want to correct me,,,

btw guys, what's your opinion on cheap boost gauges from ebay? I've found something that seems quite ok for my red dials but once cordobabrendy told me they're not good cos they float a lot when the car is at idle,,, my mechanic told me tho that if you put a small screw into the pressure tube then they work ok,,, any opinions on this?

The only time mine pulled a vacuum was during the shut down process. Used to go to -0.6 bar. Without the EGR now it does not.

Good luck finding a gauge with no vacuum on it. There is simply not the market for any gauge manufacturer to produce a gauge for TDIs only which don't read a vacuum. I'd love to have a go in the petrol turbo car that can max out a 2.5 bar gauge though! EEK! :D

You got that much pressure?

I'm running stock now and my turbo does 0.9bar (1.2 bar spike). After I get a remap they say it'd do 1.2 bar with a 1.4 bar spike @ 140bhp.

Mine pushes 2 bar+ on the odd spike, but 1.8 usually. Not got close to maxxing out yet, although the odd spike sometimes touches 2.3, but I don't like it when it does that - not normal. It's not that for some time so I think it's behaving itself

Don't know about a screw???

I put a small washer jet in mine as it was very very noisy and with the smaler hole the air flow sorted that out :)

These are the usual pressures for tuning:
before (after)
Golf TDI 90 hp (115 hp).......... 0,8 bar - (1.1 bar)
Golf TDI 110 hp (140 hp)........ 0,9 bar - (1.2 bar)
Golf TDI 115 hp (150 hp)........ 1,2 bar - (1.4 bar)
Golf TDI 150 hp (175 hp)........ 1,4 bar - (1.5 bar)
These are the maxximum pressure in the range of maximum torque, not across the whole rev range!

They say you can run a VNT15 safely at 18psi (1.25bar). Any more than that and it's bye-bye turbocharger.

imho 1.2 bar constant will quickly kill the small VNT-15 mate,,,

I thought it was 1.1 for the 110,,, anyway, I said that cos I know that the limit for the vnt-15 is 18psi so, running 1.2bar constant means running the turbo very closely to its limits and thus reducing its life,,, on mine it runs at 1.1,,,
BTW, what map/chip you gonna use mate?

I've chosen to go to RSR motorsport. I've heard a lot of positive comments on his work. http://www.rsrmotorsport.com/eng/podjetje.php

I think there's a member on this forum, who is also from Slovenia, had fine tuning made by RSR and is running a cupra Mk3 1.8T at 3xx bhp.

I wanted to go there this week, but they're booked out :( Now I've got to take some time off from work to drive there. I hate it, when things don't go according to plan!

Which one did you go for?

I bought the car used and it was already chipped,,, [big mistake I know]
it was chipped by Leone Motorsport, a tuner from Roma, Italia. He's done among other things, a Super 1600 [rally class] Punto, many many Alfa's for the italian touring championships, tunes cars like ferrari, porsche and other big sport brands,,, so it's a respected tuner here,,, yet I don't think that it's the best in the diesel field,,, my car smokes a lot and it vibrates cos of overfueling down low the rpm range so I know for sure there's something better,,, anyway, it's very driveable and brings a decent smile on my face when I floor it,,, if I only could get revo here,,,

i hope not  ,mine spikes at 2 bar momentarily , at peak torque i have 1.75 bar and at redline 1.4 , turbos still in one piece too:D
