no, it was a proper trader, but called him yesterday and he said he won't be giving us a full refund. :censored:[:@].

he sounds like a ******. I'd take his offer, bird in the hand and all that, wait till he's reselling it then report him to trading standards for having a dud on sale.

well i can get the train to work, no problem. it just cost about £2 a day more, but all that we'll be claiming back along with the aa report cost, a days loss of earnings etc. when it goes to the small claims court.

in a word, no. the bugger is still refusing to pay up, but to go to court would be expensive as it's not the small claims court so we'd need a proper solicitor yada yada yada.

I've had a quote to cost up the repairs the AA report said were necessary. it came to £3k which IS under the small claims court threshold. So now i'm speaking to trading standards and the Which? Legal advice line to see if that's a good way to go.

Don't dismiss small claims court as they can give exemption for simple cases £5000 limit is not set in stone!!!!

Oh, we're not dismissing the small claims court. quite the opposite. rather that than big boys court with solicitors and bigger fees etc. plus the £3k for repairs is using a 2nd hand gearbox. if we went for a brand new gearbox, you're talking £5k!! eek!

It's all fun :cry::cry:

What's pissed me off the most about it is wifey is now 5 months pregnant and the hormones are really kicking in now. She's up and down all the time. When she's down she'll be crying about this for hours. I don't like seeing her cry. Makes me want to drive down (how?) to the tw@t's and put my fist through his face.

Not good for either of you fella. Be strong. Don't want it to spoil this priceless time. I've been there got the t shirt twice so to speak. Chocolate was the key to calming my other half down. Sure you'll get a satifactory result.

i was thinking the exact same, that green golf they had lol!

either way, get your other half some chocolate, it calms my other half down at that one time every month, real life safe to be honest :)

hope you get it all sorted though mate.

By the way, if it goes to a big boys court, can't you get like no win no fee solicitor? I dont really know about these things but they take the money the guy owes/should pay and then their fee's on top i think? Im not too sure but its something like that

Wow, Sorry to hear about all your trouble, I cannot believe this guy is a trader, if you are financially stable at the moment I would go in for the long haul and bring this C#nt to the cleaners, ( pardon my language, but that is all he is) I would want my money back and compensation for the hardship you endured, its the pure principle of it, he sold this car knowing a family would be in it!!!!

After i got my money back by hook or by crock, I would make it my business to shut him down

Well, we can't afford the long haul and wifey is now 30 weeks pregnant (this has been going on for 3 months now). It was really affecting her, getting her stressed. she was signed off work for 2 weeks cos of stress!

Twatty has twice said we can exchange the car for money and both times phoned the day before (or 2 days before) to say he can't anymore. twat.

So we went to another garage this weekend and have part-exed the leon for an Astra SRI CDTI. So i'm leaving the SEAT fraternity :(

Hopefully not forever though. Wifey is releaved that it's all over and twatty can stick it up his arse.

Feel free to name and shame the garage and give the reg number of the car to save others going through what you have had to.

Good luck with the baby :)
