Hi, i've got 2 new discs, ferrodo pads, braided hoses and a fluid change needed on my LCR.

Does anyone know anywhere that is respected and not to expensive for this work in the Guildford/surrey area? I'm sure that my local garages will try and take me for a ride so to speak.

Cheers.

The guy I am getting my Leon from is from the same area as yourself - would you like me to ask if he knows anywhere? He was telling me a relative at a Garage added his coilovers and was maticulous with replacing bushes et al - that's the only non-Seat Garage the car has gone in but it's a Seat Specialist.

Mate that would be spot on, i'm gonna ring round and get some quotes tommorow... will try mega4. If you can get the name of any good places i'd be much appreciated :)

Take it to The Phirm! They do all the work on my cars, write the Q & A for Performance VW mag and generally know their sh1t! They're very reasonably priced (approx £45ph) considering their reputation and experience. Ask for Tim - the owner he's a really good guy and will help you out... give them a call you won't regret it :D

do it yourself. there's a guide on the info-base.

i'm gonna do mine in the next few days.

I'd love to give it a go... i've never even changed pads before though and dont want to risk any errors with my brakes :(

If i wait while it gets done at the garage i might ask to watch what they do, wont hurt to know :)

*Sorry forgot to mention i've already got all the discs, pads, hoses and fluid... just need a place for the labour. I'm really thinkin about gettin the wheels off at the weekend and seein what it might involve...

Just got a quote from mega4 of £200 +VAT for the full change... which i thought was a bit pricey?
Like i said i really want this done properly as i've heard stories of air bubbles in the fluid after a bleed, but £200!?
Is this the sort of price i'm looking at for discs, pads, hoses and fluid?
Still waiting for a call back from tim at the phirm but would like to know if this is the kinda price i will be charged?
Cheers!

jeez, if i get a quote like that, i'm defo doing them myself

discs arrived this morning - thanks bill ;) they weigh a bloody ton!!

Lol yea i know, quite amused when two big UPS guys turned up carrying the box between them  did u go for the ultimax? they look the nuts!

Cheers for that Jamie, will give them a ring 2moz.

Any other places worth tryin guys?

They do get quite busy down there to be honest mate but do try again as I'm certain they will be worth the effort... if a girl answers the phone her name is Laura and is the g/f of one of my best mates - Dave. She may well be able to give you a price over the phone or will call back with the info... failing that ask for Paul or Kev - they both know their stuff too!

If all else fails drop me an email with your details ([email protected]) and I'll get on to them for ya!

HTH

In all fairness mate, nothing youre having done is a specialist job that needs a VAG specialist. Just go to Kwik-fit for a quote.

If it was a cam belt change then fair enough, but its a brake change.

Just my opinion.

Well i was quite surprised that seat in camberley gave me the best quote! 150 for everything which i'm gonna go for just for peace of mind... The Phirm were very helpful and i will definatly be going back there for specialist work so thanks Phil!
Just one thing.. as the ferodos dont have a wear sensor do they just earth it yea? thanks!
oh and i decided to refurb my brembos at the weekend so it all looks nice and new when i change brakes...
