Happened twice now in 2 days and never happened to me before. When coming to a stop at traffic lights on both occasions fairly gently the brake pedal has vibrated. Did a search and seems this is to do with the ABS cutting in, but should it be doing this without excessive braking? Car is on 42k on the clock, original discs and pads, tyres around 2.5mm on the front, don't know if that will make a difference.

Just concerning me its happening, its very wet out but with it never happening before just wondering if it should be something I should be worried about.

abs will cut in with just your little toe on the pedal if you go over a wet drain cover, gravel, spilt derv or a bump in the road big enough to make one wheel almost loose contact with the tarmac whilst braking even a tiny little bit

to test the fact that it is your ABS just give the pedal a real good hard stomp when it's safe and feel it working

I find it hard to believe that you have never felt this before, next you will be asking what the little orange light flashing means when you give it some ;)

Just came as a shock the first time the pedal vibrating away, then for it to happen again the next day. Does some very heavy braking when it was safe and it didn't vibrate at all today.

nhot heavy enough then,
you need to really really really stomp on it as if you are about to run your mum over, force the pedal to the floor and keep it there

you dont have to go fast or even brake hard. if the roads slippy , drop of oil ect it`ll do its thing.
wait till you do it in anger... you try to push the pedal through the floor and even though the voice in your head screams " its the abs" your brain still thinks your stopping too slowly , so you push harder until your calf almost emerges from your leg:(

my dad asked me if his car had abs a while ago, I said yes it does and told him to stomp on the brakes to see what it felt like

he couldn't get it to work at all but I could

Move to Scotland, it's an easy place to test, its either raining, or snowing!

Or try the Lake District, it tends to rain alot there too!

I have a similar problem.

The abs light came on and VAGCOMed gave a front drivers sensor fault. Changed the sensor with a new one, cleared the fault with vagcom and the abs light went out. Now when braking, the brakes are ok but just when the car is about to come to a complete stop, the abs kicks in. No light, just a brake pedal vibration as if one of the sensors cannot get a good signal at slow speed.

Question is, is the new sensor faulty or is is the sensor in the other side just old and needs replacing too?

9k with a 1.4! poverty thats worse than me! lol im going for the 312mm way before my disks and pads need replacing, my abs works maybe im usein to much of the power as one of my front tyres is barely legal after 12k! :( £123 on two new front tyres gonna go slightly wider to :).. you will feel the abs work more in the wet and on slippery roads... if its working its doing the job its there to do! so i wouldt worry about it to much unless ur tyres, disks or pads need replacing or somthing??

Yeah I need a new set of tyres soon aswell. Think the 1.4 will be gone by around october and if not by then deffo by march 09.

Seeing your getting new audio equipment again mate lol. Just got a 3000w pioneer sub but wanting to get a RE Audio XXX or a Fi BLT. Need to upgrade the wiring in my car first though :)

You havent got a amp for sale that could power front and back components?

That only happens under very servere braking, and usually followed by a few choice words like "You stupid c**t",

But really, it sounds like the pedal catches on something, but theres nothing there for it to cach on
