did you bleed both nipples on the master cyclinder,,, i had a very similar problem this week,, post on here somewhere... it was air in the master cyclinder.... i didnt realise there was two bleed points so air was still stuck in the back cyclinder

Yeah, i noticed your post, thats what made me realise about bleeding the master cylinder. Done both nipples. One nearest front of the motor first. Did you have to power bleed it? Ive been using one of the one man kits that has a non return valve on it

yep used a one man kit from halfruads,,, ezzibleed? but once on a ramp in the air, with the engine running was a lot lot easier, went back to the old ways, apparently talking to a couple of mechanics, is the problem with the things that the people at kick fit, bushes etc is they use a air powered bleeded that actully sucks brake fluid through the nipples (lol) apperently (i didnt understand) even if there is a airlock it will still suck fluid through thus not solving the problem

cheers

Ah right, sounds pretty much a waste of time then. I wish i had bought the eezibleed kit as opposed to the one man bleeder. Hopefully get it connected up to the compressor tomorrow. If i get a chance before work today im going to have a look at the back brakes again, im convinced theres defo somethin not right with them

1 way to check.... crack off a bleed nipple, press the pedal and it should go to the floor, do it with the engine running as not to damage master cyclinder seals.... if it doesnt go to the floor, like mine didnt it means air i still in the system.... if it goes to the floor check all the brakes the same... if two dont go to the floor, diagonals, then i would suspect air still in the master cyclinder

cheers mate. Had the back caliper off again today, Defo seized. going to see if i can sort something as its still under warranty! Touch wood

I got the car last may and it certainly aint been done since then. When i had it off earlier it was sitting correct, pretty much square to one another. and the handbrake isnt holding properly either. if i apply the handbrake , it goes up 4 clicks and is solid. But if i lift the clutch up in 1st gear it will move without too much of an effort, so im thinking that its only engaging at one side

Not wanting to sound daft but when it was sitting correct was the hand brake on?

Also if you have just changed the rear discs and pads you will have very little braking power on the rears as they need time to bed in, hence being able to set off whilst handbrake is applied,

If it is only engaging on 1 side you should be able to tell because if you try to set off with the handbrake applied the car should dip to 1 side (if you know what i mean)

I still think the best thing to do would be to take it to a garage and have it presure bled.

Hope this helps

turned out to be the master cylinder. got it back, only took 2weeks, and now the bloody abs and traction control doesnt work, im assuming the abs pump wasnt bled as the garage i used doestn have diagnostic equipment
