I have posted a couple of times in the FAQ section but havent got a reply...I have a DAB at the mo and was wandering if i had to change anything if i wanted to change the brake setup to FR calipers/discs? Is it a straight swap?

Cheers

the DAB i think has the same brakes as the FR? The only car with diffrent brakes is the CUPRA.

Are you mad?! That isnt the case at all! You believe a 1.2 12v has 288mm brakes like a FR 20vT?!

Anyway, this thread is useless anyway imho. You might need to upgrade alot more than just discs/pads, calipers and carries, and if you need them, you might aswell upgrade to the 312mm brakes!

then he needs new hubs for sure! as i did on my pd100 but as the Fr breaks are smaller than the 312mm they might fit if not already fitted on the dab i dont actuly know? i wouldt have thought they would use the same as my pd100 are smaller than my fr breaks...

my mate maxcars1 did this upgrade from a 100pd se 52 plate. he had 256mm front brakes and had to change the hubs (not easy diy) to the fr/cupra ones. the 288mm would be ok on remapped 100pd and dab i would say. and you can pick them up cheap to be honest, my mate got them with pads for 10 quid as someone just wanted rid of them.
so basically to go to 288mm setup if you have 256 as everything under the 130pd and 20vt has this, new hubs are needed along with the brake setup of carriers discs pads and calipers

And if your going to the trouble of new hubs, you might aswell just get 312mm :D

I agree. Having upgraded from FR brakes which were useless to cross drilled and grooved 312mm set up, id recommend anyone to do it.

Dont mind at all. I paid 200 and odd 25d hand as they were cross drilled and grooved discs and sports pads but they were in great condition and well worth it.

+ disc and pads work out around the £200-250 mark

Are the carriers required for the golfs the same as what is required on the Ibiza? Noticed on golfturbo link to see what the 312's fit that he sells, doesnt list the Ibiza, only leon and toledo.

(I cant get onto ebay to see if he sells different variations :) )

Cheers
