I'm having serious second thoughts about the car.... I want to keep it after taking it around Bedford at the weekend. It was a serious animal an eating the Porsche's all day. Carrera 4s weren't even close.

I need some motivation guys, help me out!! I think it needs to come off the road and I need to save for an SQS gearset. I will also need something to run around in which does a zillion MPG, suggestions welcome??

Keep it mate you will regret it. Its an awesome car. Can get cheap runarounds that are good on petrol for peanuts.

Id keep it matey, dont see many examples like this these days and if your having fun with it then almost seems like a ni argument.

1.9tdi sport mk4 wirth a map will give you what you want in terms of running cost's, quick aswell and cheap insurance. I used to get 55-60mpg on the motorway doin 70.

I don't think I have commented on this before but firstly (after reading it all) I would like to say well done for the build! Secondly, don't sell unless you are absolutely desperate for the cash release! How many Porsche eaters can you get for 9k these days??? When I was undertaking my build I bought a cheap run around in the form of a 306 1.9 diesel, does near 70MPG and drive it every day. I drive the Leon once or twice a week and it will probably get put away for the winter as I don't want to drive it in harsh conditions.

If I where you buy yourself something cheap <£500 and use that as a run about. I only insure my Leon 6 months of the year as well as tax it 6 months which means you save on the motoring costs as well, try and search for a dual policy which allows mirrored NCB (I use sky insurance which will bring the insurance cost down still.

Just my 5p worth but don't think you should sell!

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'm going to keep it. I will be saving for a property so things will be slow but I think a 306 derv might be a good call. 70Mpg is seriously appealing!! Get me some of that.

I'm hoping to save for an SQS box and some new pads. Possibly two piece disk set up.

Glad your not selling up Joe, you would definitely regret it later if you sold it. And like everyone is saying just get a cheapy run around mate.

That's good to hear Joe. You've come so far to produce such a well rounded car. Hopefully your longer term plans will complete the build, and allow you to enjoy the car along with your new pad :)

Cheers James,

The car is now off the road. I will be saving for an SQS gearset I think now and maybe some 2 piece discs. I'm hoping to be able to take it on track without worrying about tax, MOT and insurance. That way I can decide what I want to do with it long term. I should also have a garage to store it in over the winter so I'm a happy bunny.

I bought myself a daily this weekend, a lovely little 306 diesel, what a peach. But MPG is the way forward :D

Good Man, can't go wrong with a French dirtbag diesel.
