burning onion smell?? wtf

ive got a kind of onion smell coming from my engine ...and coming in from the fans, i turned the interior heaters on and it just smells bad ...im having exhaust problems could it be my cat? but its not an eggy smell its more oniony lol.

also dont know if its related but powersteering seemed a bit harder today.

just looked at it seems like its coming from the coolant tank area if thats any help ...could be my clutch cable?

ok been out for a test drive and its only happening when steering hard. been going fast and its ok no smell ...then when turning it came. also i opened the bonnet and the smell is coming from the back bottom bit of the engine bay. power steering feels kinda bad and heavy torque steer. ...thats the best i can describe it, any1 have a clue?

i will go about changing the pollen filter tomorrow but i doubt its that.
