Burnt fuel pump fuse??

hey all,

Finished work yesterday and car wouldnt start! so i did the usual checks, fuel pump wasnt buzzing on ignition.

I had to check the relays/fusebox in pitch black car park with no torch!

pulled out fuse 18 and this is what i found!!

now im not a sparkie but that isnt right is it? fuse aint supposed to get hot like that?

put a new fuse in and car started ok - im a little worried now, dont want my car to go up in flames!!

am i right in saying that the fuse is burnt due to arcing? (fuse not contacting holder properly?)

when it blew maybe the hottest spot when the strip melted was nearest the rivet and causes the heat

doesn't take much heat to make em black and on top of regular current i guess

if it was anything of an issue or sustained then the holder and neighbouring fuses would have marks on so check them and the wires at the rear to be sure

well if it now works with a new one that one must be broken somewhere unseen to the eye ??

slice it open as my bet is it's loose under that dark spot ;)
