Hi All,

Nice to meet you all, I hope I can stick around here for a while!

After nearly 90% there doing a deal on a beautiful Black 2.0TDi 170 Sport Tech

I've been reading through the forums and I'm wandering about the Sat Nav....dum dum dummmm

OK, how do I know what unit is in it?

I'm confused with what it has as I've only seen it once on the test drive and after reading some people got pioneer units which keep playing up just wandered what I'd be getting, you press a button to the right and the screen sort of flips out a bit and has 2 SD Card slots and a DVD Slot, if this helps?

(can't post a pic as don't have 15 posts yet)

What can I do with this unit? I noticed something on this forum about when you put it into reverse.....should the standard unit bring up a display? On the test drive I don't think mine did...

So, me and SWMBO decided our old cronky cars needed replacing, we intially visited this dealer for the Renault Clio, funky car, we're both young so liked the crazy colours we could have it in etc.

Long story short, always liked the idea of an Exeo, test drove one when they first came out...love them even more with this facelift and better engines!

The amount of value for money with this car is amazing.

The details of this one is that basically it's an ex SEAT car driven by one of their reps or finance guys, got to 12k on the clock and mr seat gets a new car and this gets put on the forecort with the worst of depreciation gone.

What do you think?

Like i said 90% on the deal, we want the car, the salesman is doing finance proposals today so we'll see if we get accepted. I'm self employed which never seems to work in my favour no matter how much I earn!!

Fingers crossed for me please

(As I was writing this the dealer has phoned, all gone through :D :D :D, paid my £250 deposit, it's ours!!! OMG!!!! )

Kindest Regards

Jamie

Thanks for such a quick reply!

Getting more excited about this now, it does have the proper standard Sat Nav! :) So that should work properly unlike all the issues with the Pioneer unit!

I read through that thread this morning, it's what prompted me to post this up tbh! I wasn't sure if the pioneer ones were made to look factory, didn't realise it was just an after aftermarket type setup!

I understand that is was because of the Japan Disaster? Poor souls :(

Yeah that would be the reason why unfortunately, although as you would have probably guess the Pioneer was naff make do solution.

I did look at retrofitting the Exeo satnav but couldn't justify it for what would roughly be about £500 fitted for a used one and it only accepts the first half of a postcode. Although there is an adaption you can do if your a bit handy to put a reverse camera in the boot handle.

We're can I find the info for the Reverse Camera? I'd definitely be up for that!

Is there no firmware upgrades for the Satnav?

I had a 207 GTi with Peugeot Satnav and that thing was horrendous, since selling that I've used my Android Smartphone which uses Google Maps and it's brilliant, this Audi Satnav must be better than the Peugeot one?

Plus the peugeot only had simcard for the phone which was a pain, nice to have bluetooth on the Exeo! and the Bose system to me, sounded brilliant!

I've not had a play with it as like I said they take the DVD out don't they.

All the documentation etc has been taken down for the Exeo, is there anywhere I can see a manual for the Satnav you think?

I haven't seen anywhere this mentioned but I don't think it has a CD Changer in the Glove Compartment or Boot....

Is that even right, a full Nav and Bose system and no changer?

Also...the SD Card slots, does it take the SDHC cards as an older manual I found said it accepts upto 256mb...thats not a lot of music.

Cheers all!

Had my 170 Sport Tech for almost 18 months now. Best car I've owned and such a good buy. Sadly, i reckon the sat-nav is pretty naff as it only does five digit post codes. My Navman and Google maps are way better, more accurate and better route choice. It does tell you when the roads are blocked or busy though. That aside, you'll be well pleased.

A CD changer is redundant when you can hold 30 albums on cards.I use a couple of 16gb SD cards (sandisk and Kodak I think) without any problem. I have noticed that it cannot recognise some formats of MP3 (maybe bit-rate dependent). But with my collection its about one track in 30-40. Hardly the end of the world.

ST 170 owner here too, the unit is called RNS-E, the Exeo one in the 2012 should have an LED screen though which is nicer than the audi. SD card is the way to go, I have a 32GB SDHC in mine which works great, the iPod dock is useless though, it treats the ipod like a 6cd changer, no track names or anything :( The satnav isn't bad as long as you know the street name imo, I love having the instructions between the dials! There is also no CD changer, and you have to remove the Sat Nav DVD to use the CD player in the dash.

They're great cars though (even without those famous words "for the money"!), just be careful about the depreciation, I got PCP finance as the rate was better than HP and the GFV ("baloon payment") when the car is at 3.5years/36000 miles is only £6000 which should be telling ...

Had mine a few weeks now, 2013 ex-demo, I also drove the new Mazda 6 which is also fantastic, but I couldn't wait until Jan to get one as i'm losing a company car - the engine is better than the Exeo but I prefer the Exeo facelift styling, and the exeo equipment level is second to none. Drove a Volvo S60 which is OK but a little expensive and has a stupid electric parking brake, and an Octavia VRS TDI which had too much road noise, steering too light and the interior felt very cheap compared to the Exeo.

Yeah depreciation is bad on them. There's a reason why SEAT have dropped the Exeo from their line up! It's a shame as I thought they'd be pretty popular

Thanks Guys,

Jarre - they have stopped them because the new Toledo is replacing them, it was said that the Exeo was always a stop gap whilst they readied a new Toledo.

Thanks guys, so that answer my question that the SD slot will take SDHC.

As for PCP, that's what I've gone for, was still able to do it on the 2012 I've bought, so keeps the monthly cost down, it's already had a good hit on depreciation and well, look at the 08/09 cars are currently around 7-8k.

So if this one keeps to that trend, if I decide to keep it, the 6k GFV will be a bargain for a 4 year old car that I've basically owned all it's life.

Ref the Sat Nav....it can't be anywhere as bad as the Peugeot unit I had in my 207 GTi, the RNS-E looks a bit more modern and user friendly, it used to take about 20 minutes to set the Satnav on the GTi!!

Get to pick the Exeo up on 16th of November. Cannot wait!!!!! (I'll put a pic of it as my profile picture)

Hmm I always viewed the Exeo as SEAT's 'executive' car with it being based on the A4, which is in a different league to the Toledo. It's not really the same in terms of it being booted rather than a hatch and the Toledo also only receives the lower end engines and no sport spec, unlike the Exeo.

Anyway, I quite like the Exeo, but decided I would look a bit weird owning one lol! The other thing that put me off was the lack of 170 diesel availability, most seem to be 140s instead. Hope you enjoy it :)

Mine is the 170 Sport Tech, so I think it's the best model going right? Got all the options on it I think.

Ref the Toledo thing I'm only quoting what Motoring Press websites have said now that the new Toledo is coming once the new Leon has dug its wheels in :)

Yes I believe 170 sport tech is the highest specced diesel you can get. This is what I would have wanted had I gone for one. I decided I was a bit too young to drive a saloon though! There's some great deals to be had on them, though. Bargain car really, although I guess it only works if you plan on keeping it a good few years.

How old are you? I'm only 25...am I passed it? I'd like to think I've done well owning such a car at such a young age, I work really hard and this is one of the pay offs :)

I am a bit of an 'old before my time' kinda guy, always loved bigger cars! I think the one I'm getting is a good mix of fun, economy and looks!

Just looked at the Toledo online....do not like it. Why end the Exeo!!!

I'm 19 lol, the Exeo wouldn't be the usual teenage car! At 25 I guess it's acceptable ;)

Aye that's what I mean, I can't really see how the toledo would be a replacement for the Exeo. I was told by a dealer that it was being dropped purely due to lack of demand for it :)

Enjoy your new car, you will LOVE it :)

I've got the Pioneer Nav and have also used the normal Nav. For me, the Pioneer was a no brainer due to the fact that it supports bluetooth audio streaming and has a proper postcode search, comes pre-loaded with POI's and I've loaded the speed camera database onto it.

I've lost the full colour display in the dash and full handsfree via the steering wheel, but for me - the pro's outweigh the con's!

There's a few additional options you can get on top of Sport Tech but they're nothing to write home about:

Convenience pack:
Front parking sensor, air quality sensor with auto-recirc, remote boot opening, electric rear sunblind

Electric memory seat pack

Winter pack:
Heated seats, headlight washers and heated nozzles

Sunroof or solar sunroof (which powers a fan inside the car on hot days to keep the interior cooler when parked in the sun)

Heat reflective windscreen

Towbar

Storage pack:
Some extra boxes under the front seats, cargo net, load-through with ski bag, 12v supply in boot with 230v inverter

Sport Tech comes with Headlight washers as it's got Bi-Xenons, so not sure if it has Heated Nozzles, does anybody know this?

BUT it doesn't come with heated seats which I feel it really misses considering the nice spec it comes with as standard.

I also think the Solar Sunroof is a brilliant idea, mine doesn't have that.

Ref Wndscreen, was it this facelift that saw the thicker windscreen and windows? or was this an upgrade from the beginning over the Audi B7?
