Hey guys, im new to the forum. I currently drive a Rover 25, anyone on mg rover org may know me from there.

Anyway, the HG has gone.... no k series jokes please

Anyrode, im off to looks at an 06 cupra tdi facelift tommorrow. Looks mint. Anything i should be specifically looking for? Ive test driven a 130 fr before, so have an idea.

Whats the cambelt change time in terms of mileage or age?

Cheers in advance

Tom

have fun they are great cars, the only thing i hate about the facelift is the stupid gearknob so waiting on my prefacelift knob to turn up. oh and the wonky side badges , but easily changed.

you will be shocked at how quick they are, i kept up with my mates brand new Focus RS yesterday when we were driving to Top gear Filming, to say he was shocked is a huge understatement.

Can your mate not drive?

300bhp and over 300lbs/ft!!!

Other than mechanics take some time to look carefully around the dash area as the plastics are a little flimsy and can crack easy, it’s a weak spot. This is especially so if any panels have been removed or modified for an ICE upgrade.
Oh double check the rear wash works as the pipes often pop off. :(

yeah, he sure can, and you could hear it too , don;t be fooled by the new RS, there not that quick, and that was his words too. He said its as not as quick as everyone thinks. His is up for sale. This was in gear from 50 to about 90 ish. Torque to weigh ratio i am probablya lot better than his RS, remember weight makes a huge difference on the RS. Thats why the R26 R megane is quicker round the ring than an RS with a lot less power, some 70 bhp less.

I bought one last week, an 06 also. Absolutely loving it, fabulous performance and overall an excellent little car.

Interior isn't fabulously made, but that's to be expected.

Buy it and enjoy.

Evening all! tested the car today, really nice, 56 plate revised model, 1 lady owner, and except for a couple of alloy scuffs its mint! The drive was great, interior is good. Need to sleep on it.

Just out of interest, how does the standard cupra tdi stack up against a a type R ep3. Im guessing not well in a straight line?

Not a million miles off. Mines standard and I didn't seem to be that much slower, nothing a hybrid turbo and good mapping couldn't sort out but not sure about handling

Sorry, but the new RS is way faster than a TDi Cupra! To say they are not that quick is absolute rubbish. 324lbs/ft v 245lbs/ft and 300bhp v 158bhp...sorry, no contest! In gear, off the line, top speed, the lot. It's only around 200kg's heavier.

Yes, the R26 is more evenly matched but it's not all to do with weight. The Meg has road legal slicks which is a major part. Put similar road tyres on the Meg and that time is probably about the same, if not slower. Around the ring, brakes, tyres, weight, power, grip all come into play. The Megane is a stripped out track car that is only down 70bhp, not 140!

I can barely keep up with the old Focus RS's!

I agree thats total B:censored:Ks but then again Ants car is faster that a Boxter S around the "Ring" so who knows

I've owned and own a seriously quick car, my cupra's no slouch either and iv'e taken it to the Ring theres no way its a match for R26.R32.RS Focus or anything else like that.

I overtook a V10 M5 at the Nurburgring mmmmm
