The old VRS was badly specced early on in its life, only the last few came with goodies

You got sod all on the earlier ones, no climate which would put me off hugely

can't use that as an excuse...put a standard facelift mk4 1.2 beside an FR and they look pretty similar, just the rear bumper and alloys are different on the outside (along with silver mirrors).

i am also more of a mk4 fan over the mk5, but believe the facelift mk5's will be sexy as hell watch out

Yes you can. Your now wanting to put a standard 1.2 FACELIFT model that came out in 2006 to show which is nicer? How about you get a 1.4 Sport on a 02 plate next to it and see which looks better.

Its a basic mk5 IMHO aka none FR/Cupra

big change of plans, thought it through a abit and worked out I would be paying more for the car in the long run and the car isn't worth as much so I am keeping the FR and might get the seats recovered in leather

I am abit gutted about it to be honest, but my sales manager and other sales person talked me out of it, the car booked low already 8.700 and was paying 10.500 for it so i thought hummm
