i had to change my car battery, and now the headunit just says 'keycard not ok' when switched on, after a bit of researching i found out (i think) all i have to do is plug in the keycard and type in a code for it to work again, so can i maybe borrow somebodies? i will pay for postage ! cheers

i had a problem where i lost my keycard, bought a new one and a so called unlock code. Nothing would work to programme the new card to the cd player. eventually found the card and it worked straight away.

The HU started to overheat and steering controls stopped working. Getting spares is a nighmare so just bought a new HU.

After disconnecting my battery I had no message at all about the key card.

It won't work with someone else's card as their card is not associated to your head unit.

Your current key card should still work!
1) Turn the unit off
2) Remove your card
3) Turn the unit on
4) Enter your key card into the unit
5) Message "KEYCARD OK" should flash up

If this is still unsuccessful then you'll need the Master Code for your head unit.
If you can't find it with your car's documents then I'm sure Blaupunkt (maybe even SEAT) can issue you with a new one!

Here's the process to do it:

1) Switch radio on - Display shows "KEYCARD NOT OK"
2) Turn it off.
3) Press and hold "BND.TS" & "1.MIX" and then...
4) Switch radio on - Display shows "0000 MASTER CODE"
5) To change the code press Tuning Button "^" until the correct digit is shown
6) When the correct number is shown press Tuning Button ">" to enter it and move to the next one.
7) Repeat this for all 4 digits.
8) When the correct code number is now shown press "MENU.OK" to enter it.
9) The new key card is accepted if the unit returns to playback mode and the message "KEYCARD OK" flashes up.

EDIT: Using the Master Code will work with your current key card, even if that card does not currently work.

thank you so much for your response, but i have lost my keycard, so im assuming now that there is no way to get it to work again without dishing £30+ on a blank keycard? many thanks

My understanding of the literature in the Blaupunkt book is that you'll need both a card and a Master Code to get your stereo working again.

I'd imagine a new card will come with a code but couldn't be sure! I've seen some places selling just codes online (cost about £5) but I don't see why Blaupunkt or Seat CS could get you a new one.
It's not a unit you're retro-fitting, it's standard equipment in your car!

Good luck :)

Either way, have a moan to Seat Customer Services first. They might be very kind and sort you out.

You could tell some white lies... "My car didn't have a keycard when I bought it..." etc etc but this is a little devious!
