I've had quotes from vw and seat dealers in the cheltenham, gloucester, swindon areas from £349 to £575

Cheapest is VW Cirencester at £349 (cambelt and water pump) inc.

But will do myself and save £200 odd.

Just getting mine back today after dropping it off on Thursday morning!

Two and a half days labour (don't ask) along with the parts including full synthetic oil, pollen, fuel and oil filters, bad daddy spark plugs, cambelt kit, new water pump, tensioning roller, relay roller and gear oils.

after VAT it's cost me over £600 and my tax disc runs out at the end of the month.

Bad times.

If I'd have gone somewhere like AmD their labour would have been three times as much but the job would have only taken a quarter of the time that it took my mate Bob and his crew. To be fair if I was a punter he said he would have charged over £900 as it took them fugging ages.

Is it true that you have to remove all of the intercooler pipework just to change the oil filter?

I might as well have driven from Croydon to Norwich and spoken to Tim! My missus now hates the car more than ever, but I think she's just jealuos of Leonas big booty...

I hear my name being mentioned lol, But 2 and a half days!!! and gear oils? gearbox oil in these doesnt actually need changing for the life of the box. plus nope I/C pipe work does not need touching to change the oil filter on these, I changed my fuel filter last week due to it leaking, and that was a pain in the arse!

lol I didn't think he needed to remove the intercooler pipework!

At the end of the day he really knows his stuff and he did do it properly so I can't complain. I'd rather he spent more time doing it like that than just rushing the job and cocking it up - although I can think of better ways to spend the money!

Nope I can 100% assure you it does not need touching, There is a secondary air pump hose which needs pushing to the side, thats all to remove them on the LCR's.

Well yeah if it takes time to do it properly its better than having to do it again to fix it!

Did my Tollie PD130 on Fri/Sat.

Sere Motors were brill  Water pump & Cambelt Kit under £100

I ordered new engine mounting bolts too as these are only £6 extra.

Job was quite straight-forward exept the engine mounting bracket on the engine :censored:

Had to jack the engine quite high to get it out and was a bugger to get it back in!!!

Setting the timing was easy with the correct tools. :funk:

Ordered mine from http://www.fast-tools.co.uk/ - took 2 days to arrive :)
